Real-Life Stories

American Family- Everyone on the Go

Husband and wife team with 3 kids and the wife could no longer  staff the office even from home. How to keep the company running with everyone being mobile.

Solutions:
  1. The husband used an iPad for access and updated customer records in the truck.  Easy to use iPad in the truck with no moving parts.
  2. The wife moved to a new Windows 8 laptop with built-in wifi access and cell phone to cover calls and use of email and credit cards to handle invoice distribution and receivables. They shared a single station license to keep costs low and both had complete access to all company information.

Loss of Internet
Duane at Jack Spack's was switching internet providers to take advantage of a new offering. He came to work 7 am and found no internet access. After getting no results talking to his service providers, he called Clear Computing, and he was up and working in 15 minutes.

Solutions:
  1. Work on a laptop where internet is available.  Duane contacted TAC on Live support and was operational on a lap top from home in 15 minutes.
  2.  Use a hot spot. Another option is to use a hot spot from any vendor and turn it on in the office. Hot spots support 5 or 10 simultaneous connections. All lap tops and most desk tops come provisioned with cable and wireless connections. The office computers would automatically switch to the wireless hot sort and he would be operational in place.

Shows that a web station can potentially save the equivalent of a full truck in a fleet of 3-5 trucks for a company. This is why you never see a FedEx or UPS with paper. Even Macy's furniture delivery is paperless. Also covers feature selection, configuration, etc.

Joke of the Week
The Shredder

A young executive is working late one evening. As he comes out of his office about 8 PM he sees the Big Boss standing by the shredder in the hallway, a piece of paper in his hand. "Do you know how to work this thing?" the older man asks. "My secretary's gone home and I don't know how to run it."

"Yes, sir," says the young executive, who turns on the machine, takes the paper from the other man, and feeds it in.

"Now," says his boss, "I just need the one copy."
