June 9 is Les Paul Day and to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the late, great Les Paul's birth, the guitar community threw a party in New York City's Times Square, not far from the Iridium, where the legendary guitarist and innovator held a weekly residency during the last years of his life. Among the many events was an all-star show featuring Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Neal Schon, Joe Bonamassa, Warren Haynes, Steve Miller, G.E. Smith, Johnny A, Lou Pallo and the Les Paul Trio and many other guitar greats. Here's a video from that all-star performance. Enjoy!

In 1978, Wilbur Fuller produced Gibson's first hand-carved custom guitar. The instrument ultimately became the Kalamazoo Award. The Kalamazoo Award was a 17 inch full-depth archtop with a rounded cutaway and solid carved top, solid maple sides, and carved maple back. It also had an ebony bridge with pearl inlays, wood pickguard with abalone inlay, multi-bound f-holes, bound ebony fingerboard with abalone block inlays, multi-bound peghead with inlay matching the pickguard, and gold-plated hardware! Production lasted until 1984 and there were about 85 made. Expect to pay upwards of $18,000 if you find one!

Peter Sprague

Here's a guitar spin on the classic Beatles tune: Here, There and Everywhere. Peter stretches the harmony and bar lines around a little but kept the beautiful feeling of the original song. He played this live at SpragueLand in Encinitas, CA on May 19, 2015.
