Ever since the first identifiable recording in 1860, sound has added captivating and significant context to history. The Library of Congress is trying to make sure that future historians - and even future archaeologists - have access to those recordings. But preserving audio like this is an intricate, time-consuming and expensive process. When you're working with old formats, you are often racing against time. With wax cylinders from the 1890s, one of the oldest recording formats, the heat from your hands can cause them to crack. Here's something to think about. Things that were written on stone 1,000 years ago we can still read. Things that were written on books 100 years ago we can still read. However, most things that were written on computer only 20 years ago we can't read . . .

Jeff Beck expects to release his new studio album sometime later this year. Until then, we can enjoy watching him show us some of the great vintage guitars in his collection. Among the treasures are a Fender Telecaster with humbuckers, a Fender Strat, an original Gretsch Rancher, a 1954 Telecaster, a 1956 Gretsch Duo Jet and more. In an interview with People magazine in 1982, Emily once said of herself: "I may look like a nice Jewish girl from New Jersey, but inside I'm a 50-year-old, heavyset black man with a big thumb, like Wes Montgomery."
