In conversation with a reporter he mentioned he will be doing a D DAY Survivor story.

I have set up interviews with two Post 166 members to be featured in the story.

He just emailed me and wants to know if I know of any D-DAY survivors in the Washington DC area who can be interviewed.

Please contact me and I will get you in touch with him.

Thanks, Sarge

National Commander Dellinger Visits Maryland on the Legion's 95th Birthday

This year the National Commander's visit coincided with the 95th Anniversary of the founding of the American Legion in Paris France.

There were plenty of Legionnaires in attendance at Francis Scott Key Post 11 in Frederick for National Commander's Daniel Dellenger's visit.

Your Post presented the National Commander with a check for $100 in the name of the National Emergency Fund.

The National Emergency Fund helps Legionnaires with checks up to $1500, who were affected by disasters like Hurricane Sandy.

Greetings!

Do you know a D-Day Veteran? See the article on the left side.

Some opportunities only come around a few times. Imagine what a thrill it would be to watch someone you know play Major League Baseball in the World Series. That could happen to you, because you hosted a college player who spends his summer playing for the Express. The Rockville Express is looking for host families to support their 2014 baseball season. The Express is the next level for many of our Post 295 Baseball players. Please see the info below and contact Rick Price if you are interested. Rick may be reached at 240-505-4660

After talking to National Headquarters, there are 2 PUFL options. 1 is receive $100 off the cost of the PUFL and the other is save $50 and receive a fleece. If you are a PUFL, you can purchase your fleece from emblem sales. (These are NOT Post 295 offers) .

I hope to see you at one of our very informal Post meeting at the Montgomery Village Golf Club, 19550 Montgomery Village Ave, Montgomery Village

HOST A POTENTAL MAJOR LEAGUE PLAYER

Some opportunities only come around a few times. Imagine what a thrill it would be to watch someone you know play Major League Baseball in the World Series. That could happen to you, because you hosted a college player who spends his summer playing for the Express. The Rockville Express is looking for host families to support their 2014 baseball season.

The Express is the next level for many of our Post 295 Baseball players. Please see the info below and contact Rick Price if you are interested. Rick may be reached at 240-447-6948. Post 295 and the Rockville Express have formed a strong support bond. Many of Post 295's players go on to play for the Express.

Every year, players from out of town are hosted by local families. This year, the Express is looking for a few new host families to become involved in the Express season. If you are interested in hosting a player, or would like to know more about it, please give us a call. We can give you details, or we can put you in touch with current host families who would be glad to let you know about their experiences.
Express players are collegiate athletes under 23 years of age who come from all over the country. The Expres is looking for families to share their homes with a player during the upcoming 2014 season. Players stay with families from late May through late July or early August.

If you love to watch baseball, have kids who play baseball, or get a kick out of lazy summer nights at the ballpark, you can host a Rockville Express player this summer, and get ready for the summer of your life! Let your family scream themselves silly when your very own player comes up to bat or pitches a game. With your own player, a recruit from a local or long-distance college, staying with you, your family will have a personal interest in the team that you've never felt before.
