Friday, June 10th, 1:30-3:00pm
It's time to sign up for Puesta del Sol's Field Day!! Field Day will be held Friday, June 10th, from 1:30-3:00pm. Field Day is one of the most exciting afternoons of the school year. In order to make it a success, MANY parent volunteers are needed to run the 20+ fun events for our kids. Full day kindergarten parents are needed to chaperone groups of children from event to event. Half day kindergarteners are welcome to attend, but as Field Day is held after half day school hours, parent supervision of half day kindies is required. Volunteers Sign Up Here. PTA Seeking New El Sol Editor for 2016-2017
|
|
The PTA is actively seeking a co-editor for our PTA Newsletter (El Sol). Our current editor has been doing this job for a couple years and now is graduating out of Puesta del Sol parenthood. However, she will be available this spring and summer to train the new co-editor. One of the editors will continue in their current role for 2016-2017. Editing duties include:
- Soliciting and compiling articles from PTA committees for El Sol publication
- Placing content in El Sol via the PTA's Constant Contact portal
- Coordinating school announcements/information with the communications team.
- Time commitment is approximately 2-4 hours per week, averaging 2 hours a week most of the year.
It should be noted that the articles submitted to the El Sol Editor will be complete; they will be fully written up and proof-read by at least two parties prior to the Editor being requested to place them in the newsletter. This is to take the burden of writing and editing off this Editor position. This is a great way to work from home and be active in the PTA's activities and promotions. Ideal candidates are comfortable with using computers, have basic word processing software, are timely and detail oriented, and are able to commit for at least a full school year. Duties would be assumed in June of the current school year to allow an overlap and training with the current editorial team. Interested parties please contact adminsupport@puestadelsolpta.org

Congratulations Puesta del Sol Students!
|
|
Sofie Fenstermacher and Julia Fritz were recently recognized by a national writing contest organized by Engineergirl.com. They both wrote expository essays describing a new technology (Sofie-Sleeping Bag Incubators and Julia-3-D Printed Organs). They also had to describe the effects of each technology on our society and environment, taking into account the engineering code of ethics. They were both chosen as national finalists in the grades 3-5 category, and Sofie was awarded honorable mention!

- Small Hands on Art presents "Jungle Book". Rehearsals begin Apr. 20 at Puesta del Sol band portable one. Questions? Call Howie or Amy McOmber at (425) 313- 9431.
- May 2-8 is Screen-Free Week! This is a yearly event put on by the Campaign for a Commercial Free Childhood where we take a break from digital entertainment. Screen-Free Week is a fun way to reduce our dependence on digital entertainment, including television, video games, smartphones, tablets, and computers. It's a chance for children-and adults-to power down and reconnect with the world around them. Don't worry, you can celebrate, and still use devices for work or school. But if screens of any kind interfere with family time (including meals), you may want to rethink how and when you're using them. I hope your family will give it a try (and let Srta. Zelda know how it goes)!
- WISE camps offer exciting chemistry and math courses in the morning & afternoon in August for students entering grades 3-9 at Newport High School in Bellevue. Questions? Contact Mrs. Baker or Mr. Nonis at wisecamps@gmail.com. Register at: www.wisecamps.com .
