Thank You to the Behind the Scenes PTA Web Team
The PTA would like to recognize the behind the scenes workhorses that make up its Website Team. This team is led by Pauline Fox who has spent many hours over the last few years perfecting and constantly improving our web experience and flow of information.  Right at her side working hard and doing an awesome job editing is the team's web content editor Joyce Luu. New to the team and doing a diligent job assisting are Shon Hong and Lori Reinvik. Crystal Coldiron has made all of our lives much easier by overseeing the website registration of school/summer programs.  And last but not least, thank you to Sandra Larimore and Linda Walker for working hand in hand with the web team to get us all the El Sol newsletter every week!  Thank you all SO much for taking on these important jobs, the Puesta del Sol Community benefits greatly because of you!!

Friday, May 6th 11:00am - 1:15pm * Bellevue Hyatt Hotel

The PTA President, Sabrina Pinto and VP School Relations, Laura Dooley would like to invite you to join them at the Spring For Schools Luncheon.

Funds raised at the luncheon will support transformative pilot projects district-wide, such as the elementary STEM initiative and the amazing college and career tools available for all Bellevue students beginning in 6th grade! Attending is a great way to see what's going on in Bellevue's public schools and learn how donors make a difference.

If you would like to join us at one of the tables please visit Spring for Schools registration  and choose Laura Dooley or Kathryn Pizzo as your table captain.

If you're unable to attend, you may still make a contribution to help the foundation reach their goal by giving online at the Foundation's website.

Library News: El Día de los Niños/El Día de los Libros
Friday, April 29th

El día de los niños/El día de los libros (Children's Day/Book Day), commonly known as Día, is a celebration every day of children, families, and reading that culminates yearly on April 30. The celebration emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
At Puesta del Sol we will be celebrating this day on Friday, April 29th.
  • We encourage all students to dress up as their favorite book character.
  • Teachers will have the option of having a Read-In at the end of the day.
  • We will be handing out Pocket Poems for students to carry in their pockets and share with others.
  • There will be bookmark and bookmaking stations set up in the library during all lunch recesses. (Parents are welcome to come in and help supervise.)
  • During the week we will be making a giant "Book Chain" with book themes, titles of books, quotes from books, etc., that we will hang along the outside rails at school.

Legislative Advocacy

There are many things parents can do to advocate for Puesta del Sol in the legislature. The more the legislature does its job, the less the PTA has to take up the slack.
We strongly encourage parents (and teachers/staff) to join and follow
Washington's Paramount Duty, a grassroots advocacy organization to get the WA state legislature to act on funding basic education.
