WE WOULD LOVE YOUR HELP for the 2016 Puesta del Sol Auction!
|
|
SAVE THE DATE: Noche de Carnaval, March 19, 2016
The 2016 Auction Committee is in need of an AUCTION VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR. The Volunteer Coordinator will recruit volunteers and give them work assignments at the auction based on volunteer availability and auction needs. This effort requires calling, emailing, and talking to parents to recruit volunteers, placing them on the volunteer schedule for the day of the auction, and training and managing volunteers the day of the auction. This isn't a huge commitment throughout the school year- we just ask that you attend our January, February, and March Auction meetings and be available all day on Saturday, March 19th, to be the volunteer buddy. If you are interested in learning more, please reach out to Alicia Filippini, afilippini@concordmgi.com.

|
Now through December 18th
During the months of November and December, Student Council members will be sponsoring and supporting their first "drive" of the year that will benefit Puesta del Sol. Our school's "rainy day recess" is being enhanced so that all students will have a number of entertainment choices when they are asked to stay in their classroom during extreme weather days. Student Council will be promoting donations of new games for all ages that will be kept in large bins in each pod. See the list below of highly rated games and suggestions for donations. If there is overwhelming support of this Student Council project, extra games will be donated to a community toy drive. Birthday Book Club - While you're doing your holiday shopping, don't forget about the Puesta del Sol Birthday Book Club and make a donation in honor of your child's birthday! We ask that the book be new and hardcover or "like new" condition. You may choose to write a check for $20 to the Puesta del Sol Library that will go towards the purchase of a new hardcover book. Your selection should be taken to the library during your regularly scheduled library class.
Sr. Shearer will present each child with a Birthday Book Club membership certificate signed by himself. Your gift to the library will have a bookplate attached so that anyone reading it will know of your generosity and school spirit!
Collecting Used Cell Phones and Ink Cartridges of All Sizes - We are still collecting all year long! Our library gets points and cash for these items, so don't forget to collect them at your home or office and drop them off in the library. No toner cartridges please. Funds from these items are used to supplement the PTA and School library budget with purchases of new books, replacements for lost books, and upgrades of older books. Thanks for your participation!

Roller Rink on the Eastside
|
|
The following letter comes from a former Skate King employee. Please contact Ayla Webb at indigohippie@hotmail.com for more information.
A letter from two former Skate King employees:
To the residents of the Eastside and all concerned,
My name is Ayla Webb, and I am a former employee of the Skate King Roller Rink. I am writing to seek out support for the opening of a new skating rink on the Eastside. Another former Skate King employee, Alan Chopay, is leading the project to have a new roller rink opened in the wake of the tragic loss of Bellevue Skate King. The first step of this project is to show investors this is a project with large amounts of interest from the community, and we are hoping to demonstrate this support to them by getting a large amount of 'likes' gathered on a Facebook page created for this project. The Facebook page is www.facebook.com/newskatingrink At the top of the page is a picture of a group of dedicated skaters on Skate King's old floor, identifiable to anyone who ever skated there by the hand-painted mural of Seattle scenery in the background. If yourself, your family members, and any interested friends could simply help this project by 'liking' this Facebook page, that will give us evidence to present to investors that a new roller rink on the Eastside will be a popular and successful business. Liking and visiting this Facebook page will also give those wondering about progress a place to go to receive updates on how this project is advancing.
We'd like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any support you can give,
-Ayla Webb & Alan Chopay
