Corporate Matching
We would really like to emphasize the importance of corporate matching. Many companies will match any charitable contribution their employees make and the process only takes a moment or two of your time. Imagine having your already generous donations doubled! The impact on our school from such programs is great and helps sustain our Spanish language enhancement programs and classroom support. Thank you!

Fall Cleaning? Clothes for the Cause!
November 2-7
Start saving your unwanted textiles. Clothes for the Cause runs November 2-7! As you clean out your closets from summer to make way for fall/winter, please set aside bags of unwanted textiles for our upcoming fundraiser.
- Textiles include: clothing, shoes, towels, sheets, blankets, quilts, belts, tablecloths, curtains, drapery, purses, throw rugs (no carpet), and stuffed animals.
- Items can be useable or throw-away, but must be dry.
The more pounds we collect, the more money Puesta del Sol earns! All materials will be reused, repurposed or recycled...nothing goes to a landfill! Look for more information closer to the event. In the meantime, stockpile your unwanted clothes and textiles for this exciting, earth-friendly fundraiser!

School Garden Volunteers Needed
Please help your new teachers get their classrooms into the school garden regularly and often! As a volunteer, you can help with the Thursday 2nd recess Garden Club for kids (K-2 and 3-5) to work in the garden every week under teacher and parent volunteer supervision. We plant, weed, water, and compost, discussing what we do in both Spanish and English. For more volunteering options, please see the Garden Club web page, send email to schoolgarden@puestadelsolpta.org or join the Facebook group.
Each teacher uses a dedicated plot with their classroom to plan and execute on their lesson plans in the gardens - life science, physical science, and environmental science. Garden activities include: planting seeds, growing worms, measuring growth, soil temperature and pH, doing art and math in the garden, and tending to their teacher's classroom garden plot, including harvesting their bounty for their classroom use!
Occasionally we have guests from local farms and Seattle Tilth who share their expertise. Garden Club is free, open to all students/all grades, and they just "show up" - no registration needed! We have anywhere from 15 to 60 kids in the garden every Thursday afternoon in fall and spring.
