PTA General Membership and Volunteer Appreciation Night
|
|
Thursday, May 14th, 6:30 pm
Please join the Puesta del Sol PTA and staff so that we may heartily thank you all for everything you do at Puesta del Sol. In addition, the 2015-2016 PTA budget will be presented at this meeting. The staff will be providing food and drinks and there will be a presentation from Robin Wallace-Wright: Helping Parents Become Their Child's Main Resource Around Puberty. Please RSVP by Monday, May 10th to AdminSupport@puestadelsolpta.org so that we can ensure we have enough food and thank-you gifts for all who attend.
Robin Wallace-Wright is a certified Sexuality Educator who specializes in teaching parents how to talk with their children about puberty and growing-up. Research has shown that children need information before going through puberty. This eases their transition and helps them feel more comfortable about all the changes. Her presentation provides parents with strategies that really work.
After the speaker is finished around 8:15pm, the 2015-2016 Proposed Budget will be presented.

Learn to Code with TechVenture Kids Summer - SCRATCH: Games and Animations
|
|
Do you like to play games or watch animations? Want to create your own? We'll provide the laptops and instruction for creating your own games and animations featuring Ninja's, Minecraft-type people or your favorite movie characters or something you've drawn yourself. Your imagination is the only limit.
We will introduce basic, intermediate and advanced coding concepts through unique and fun projects. Each project allows kids to create their own unique games or animations, using concepts they learn along the way. We blend short lessons with lots of hands-on coding time, allowing students as deeply into their own projects as they want. It's summer, so we'll keep our brains sharp with some fun in the sun time in between projects.
Registration is now open on our website!
Dates: Aug. 3 - Aug 7, 2015

Location: Puesta del Sol (room # tba)

Overdue Library Books
Notices via email will be going out this week reminding families that their books are overdue. As we near the end of school it is crucial to find and return overdue books, or pay for lost books. Payments can be made on-line at the Bellevue School District website - look for Touchbase to pay for a lost book, or by cash or check made out to Puesta del Sol. Last day of check out will be May 29th, but students will still have regular library time until the end of the school year.
Thank you all for helping to keep our book collection up to date and in good health!! Please speak with Mrs. Brody if you have any additional questions.
