Tired of the nagging & arguing over homework and chores? Attend the PTA meeting for answers!
|
|
Thursday, April 2nd
Are you tired of the nagging & arguing over homework and chores? Award winning educator and author Margit Crane will talk about the 3 myths even savvy parents believe that keep your children discouraged and de-motivated. She calls it the no nagging, no yelling, no begging approach to homework and chores.
Parents will learn about her theory of the 3 different kinds of motivation, how to create environments that promote focus, what to do about meltdowns and tantrums, how to create rules that work, and when and how much to help their kids with schoolwork and chores.

Library News

Lucky Reader - March is the time of year when students often lag behind in their reading. The weather gets better, spring is on the way and social time begins to trump reading time. Lucky Reader is a fun way to encourage students to keep reading. I check out a variety of books from Spanish and English fiction, nonfiction, and everybody shelves to a patron named "Lucky Reader" and then put them back on the shelves. Unknowingly, a student may choose to read one of these books and when they check out a note pops up on the computer that says it's already checked out to Lucky Reader. Surprise! The student checks out their book AND wins a free book to keep. Lucky Reader runs from the 1st week of March until Spring Break. Are you a Lucky Reader?
Collecting ink cartridges and cell phones
We are still collecting old cell phones and empty printer cartridges of any size. Our library gets points and cash for these items, so don't forget to collect them at your home or office and drop them off in the library. No toner cartridges please.
