2014-15 Fall Club/Activity Sponsorship Forms Due June 10

Are you thinking about organizing a before or after school club or continuing one at Puesta del Sol next fall? Would you like to request PTA sponsorship? If so, please be sure to visit the PTA's forms site HERE  for updated information on what sponsorship provides, our criteria for granting it, as well as the sponsorship application itself.

Applications for activities/clubs starting in the Fall of 2014 are due to the PTA mailbox by Tuesday, June 10 for review/approval by the PTA Board. Due to space challenges, we are requesting all Fall starting clubs and activities to submit requests prior to the completion of the school year so we can plan for and coordinate with the school to accommodate as many programs as possible. Volunteer in  School this Summer!

Would you enjoy working with students in a hands-on role? Please consider helping out! It's a great opportunity for high school and college students considering a career in teaching, or senior citizens looking to connect with young students on a regular basis. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old and willing to commit to a minimum of one morning each week.
Volunteers are also needed for the 12-day summer Operation Exploration program at Sherwood Forest Elementary.
Attend one of the upcoming orientation sessions on June 11th (from 2:30-4 p.m. or 6-7:30 p.m.). Call the VIBES office at 425-456-4154 or email vibes@bsd405.org with any questions. For more information, click HERE.

News from the Library

Library check out closed for the year

Notices will be emailed next week about lost or overdue library books.

Please return ALL library books before school is out

If lost, send a check made out to Puesta del Sol to cover the costs of the lost book.  Students who have not returned or paid for lost books before the end of the year will not receive their Yearbook and will not be able to check out next year until the books are returned or paid for. Thanks for helping to  keep our library collection up to date!

Inventory Volunteers Needed

Helpers needed to scan books for inventory. It's a very easy job, drop by any time.

Poetry Chair - The famous Poetry Chair appeared in the library right after Spring Break. Students are challenged to memorize and recite a poem in the Poetry Chair. I ask that students recite a number of lines based on their grade:

Kindergarten - nursery rhymes or a 4 line poem
1st grade - poem with 4 lines or more
2nd and 3rd grade - poem with 8 lines or more
4th and 5th grade - poem with 12 lines or more
Share your favorite poem with your children and encourage them to try out the Poetry Chair!!
