Notice
| Change in Student Drop-Off Procedures
When: Effective Monday, May 12, 2014
What: Change in student drop-off procedures AM
Where: Drop off circle by child-care
Why: To ensure safe transition for students that arrive late to school
History: Parents have been dropping off and/or parking in front of the school when arriving late. The area is not large enough to safely accommodate traffic. This results in cars being parked and left in the bus lane which is also an emergency lane.
Change in procedure? All late arrivals by car (after 9:05) should drop off students in the drop-off circle by child-care. A staff person will be present to sign your child in and give them a late pass for their teacher. Students will report directly to their classroom. This process will be implemented and reviewed for effectiveness beginning Monday, May 12.

| Good News for All Spanish Immersion Bus Riders
No Transportation/Bus Fee for 2014-15!
The State will be increasing funding for school transportation the upcoming school year. Due to this increase in State funding, there will be no transportation/bus fee for the 2014-15 school year.
We are very excited about this change. All parents/guardians will still need to submit a Bus Use Form prior to a student riding the bus, as we need the information it provides to plan bus routes. The Bus Use Form will be an annual request.
The bus service will remain a shuttle service, providing service from pre-determined locations only. It is a parent/guardian responsibility to get students to/from the shuttle stops safely. There is not necessarily safe walking to/from these locations from a student's home. Any shuttle stops located in residential areas are reviewed annually to determine continued service from that location, or if families from that service area should go to the local school stop for service to/from school.
Please remember to support your child's safe bus riding by reinforcing safe riding practices.

Get Involved with the Bellevue Schools Foundation
A great way to be more involved or learn more about the Foundation is to be a school-based Foundation ambassador! Ambassadors facilitate two-way conversations between individual schools and the Foundation that serves them all. They help Foundation staff and board members to learn how each school's PTSA, principals, and teachers can be supported. Throughout the year, ambassadors work closely with Foundation staff to raise awareness of the Foundation and the difference our donors make for Bellevue students. Their volunteer role is essential in enabling the Foundation to fulfill its mission. If you are interested in a 2014-15 position, contact Megan Elmer at Megan@bsfdn.org to learn more. |

| News from the Library
Birthday Book Club - The last day to donate a book to the library in honor of your child's birthday is June 5th. Students who have donated books will receive a token of appreciation from Mrs. Brody during their class library time. A Puesta del Sol Wish List can be found both on Amazon and Bound to Stay Bound websites. Thanks to everyone for the wonderful donations!
Overdue Books - May 30th will be the last day of check out for the school year. After that date you may receive another reminder about a lost or overdue book. Please help your student find their lost books or send a check made out to Puesta del Sol for the replacement cost of the books. Student yearbooks will be held and students will not be allowed to check out in the fall if books are not returned or fines remain unpaid. Thank you for supporting our library!
Inventory - It is the time of year when we begin to inventory all the books in the library and are in need of volunteers to help during the week. It is an easy and simple process of scanning the barcode on the back of each book on the library shelves. Drop by anytime for any amount of time. All help is appreciated!
Ink Cartridges and used Cell Phones - We continue to collect large and small ink cartridges and used cell phones. Collect them from your workplace. Drop them by the library anytime. The library usually collects over $1,000 dollars each year from donations of these items, which we use to buy more books to enhance our library collection.
Common Sense Media - This is a website that you shouldn't live without. This website offers developmentally age-appropriate, reliable information and ratings about books, websites, movies, etc. so you can decide what's best for your family. Check it out!
