Welcome Amity Interns!

Nathalia Ximena Moreno Novoa- Colombia
Francisco Figueros- Spain
Beln Torrero Rionegro- Spain

Amity Interns
Each year our PTA sponsors native Spanish speaking interns to join our school community for the year and assist our teachers in their classrooms.

Please help make our interns feel welcome by introducing yourself. Consider asking one or all of them to your home for dinner or include them in a family outing. This is a great way for your children to practice their Spanish and for the interns to learn and experience our culture while they are here. They are also available for tutoring after school. Please contact the intern directly to schedule.

A big thank you to the following three families for agreeing to be our fall host families: The Kaehlers, The Carbons and The Skaggs.

If you would like to learn more about the program, please visit http://www.amity.org or contact an Amity committee member:

Mary Fredericksen: [email protected]
Stacy Weigel: [email protected]
Laura Rossow: [email protected]

Muchas Gracias to the PTA and our host families!

Greetings from Nathalia
Hi!!!  My name is Nathalia. I am 22. I am from the country where the delicious coffee, the beautiful flowers and the joyful people grow up: COLOMBIA. I was born in Boyaca department which is called "Homeland and Freedom Shop", in Tunja city, called: "City of hidden treasures."

I love dancing, walking, listening to music, playing games, reading, working on crafts and many other activities. I am a very kind, responsible, cooperative and patient person. I have to confess that I love chocolates and my favorite cartoon is Garfield.

I am an intern for this new scholar year. I am very excited to help you in all the things that you need to improve your Spanish language skills: writing, reading, listening, speaking. I am willing to help by tutoring or you can go to my Spanish Reading Club or my Spanish Game Club. You are more than welcome! If you need more information about tutoring or the clubs, please contact me by e-mail at [email protected] or 425-289-6507. I will be waiting for you!

Greetings from Francisco
My name is Francisco Figueros. I come from an important city in Spain, called Valladolid. My city is famous for its gastronomic culture and history. We have a lot of medieval castles and Roman art, represented in the various churches of the time.
I am a big fan of music in general. I love playing the guitar in my spare time. I also love sports, from running, working out, swimming, basketball, and my passion-soccer. I love to teach and play whenever I can.

I also love science. Astronomy is one of my great passions. Whenever time permits I love going to the mountains accompanied by my mother to watch the stars with my telescope.

My family consists of my mother, my uncles and my cousins. My father died a few years ago. We love to get together very often. We love each other very much.

This year I have the great opportunity to be with you at the school. If you need, I can provide Spanish tutoring. My email is [email protected] and my phone number is 425-289-6476. I remain at your disposal.

I wish you a happy school year!

Greetings from Beln
Hello everyone,
My name is Beln. I am 22 years old and I am very happy to be one of four interns at Puesta del Sol this year.

I am from Madrid, Spain. I graduated from Complutense College in Madrid with a degree in Primary Education, but I was doing my internship in a school in Reykjavik, Iceland.

I live with my parents, my elder brother and two little dogs in Madrid. I love animals and outdoor sports, like riding a bike, running, swimming and skiing. I would like to meet new friends and discover new places during this year and do some of the following activities: visit the San Juan Islands and Olympic Peninsula, go to a baseball game, go skiing, do a bike tour and go scuba diving.

I love teaching and I am available for tutoring. I will open a reading group on Wednesdays, starting in October (location TBD). My email is [email protected] and my phone number is 425-289-6379. If you are interested, feel free to reach out to me.

I am very excited about this year!
