Be Prepared
The BSA National Annual Meeting is May 20-22nd in Atlanta, Georgia. It is seems unlikely that there will be vote or announcement on admitting gay adults. It's very possible that the professionals and volunteers running the meeting will do everything they can to avoid the subject. But even if they try there is no ignoring a elephant this large.
Let's let Dr. Gates know that we think this is a problem that needs to be solved. Whether you present a principled or pragmatic argument your voice can be heard (figuratively anyways). A copy of my letter (which argues that the current policy puts scouts at risk of abuse) is located here: (feel free to copy parts or all)

For good measure send a copy to your local Council (addresses are also available at the web site above.) Send me a copy too if you'd like to be added to my library of letters.
Colorado Observations:
The Scouts for Equality National Meeting was a couple of weekends ago.

While everyone present abhors the membership policy, everyone, no matter how badly they or their loved ones were treated, love the scouting program. The Boy Scouts of America are very lucky to have Scouts for Equality working for them. (Even if they don't realize it yet.)
We had a campfire Saturday Night. Any campfire with this many former camp counselors is bound to be amazing. This one did not disappoint.
Inclusion is an important part of Scouting's future in America.
Pascal's got a job at a Boy Scout Summer Camp (at least for now) but Tanner doesn't.

The San Francisco Pride Parade:
Sunday, June 28th, 2015
We'll be hosting a parade contingent again this year, so mark your calendars and plan to join us.

This is a free event and all current and former scouts, friends, parents, supporters... are invited to march with us.
How else can you do to help?
1. Speak out. Let your council know that you want them to step up and do what is right.
2. Join Scouts for Equality. We're not the enemy, we're the future.
3. Wear the Inclusive Scouting Knot on your uniform. Let gay scouts know you've got their back. (Don't have one - e-mail me with your address and I'll hook you up with one.)
America needs scouting, by working together we can make scouting available to every family in America.
Please keep the conversation going...
Yours in Scouting,
Wendell Baker
