From the President 
President Paula Carlson announced the appointment of James Jermier as vice president for development at Luther College. He will begin his new duties June 6.

"Jim brings years of experience and success in planning and executing strategies to grow donor support for mission-critical initiatives," said President Carlson. "As vice president for development, he will build on the history and strength of Luther's alumni and development teams. I look forward to his strategic leadership as we work to inspire and secure support for Luther's mission and priorities."

Jermier succeeds Keith Christensen, who served as Luther's vice president for development for 15 years, and interim development advisor Mark Kronholm.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Luther College Student Senate and the Alumni Office invites all graduating seniors to attend the Senior Send-Off at 5 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at the Hotel Winneshiek.
 
As part of Luther Commencement weekend, the Luther College Symphony Orchestra, together with the Luther College Nordic Choir will present a Showcase Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 20, in the Center for Faith and Life Main. The concert will be streamed live
 
The Luther College Concert Band and Jazz Orchestra will perform a Music Showcase, part of Luther's Commencement weekend events, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 21, in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life. The concert will be streamed live
 

SAC Special Events Presents: Moo Mobile! Come down to get a milkshake (free with CAF/ $2 With out) and play some fun lawn games!  Moo Mobile will be on campus on Saturday, May 14 from 12:00-3:00 p.m.

 
SAC Special Events is partnering with Be the Match on Saturday, May 14 from 12:00-3:00 p.m.  Be the Match is an organization that finds Bone Marrow Donor Matches for those in need. This event is special because SAC Special Events is trying to find a match for Luther grad, Andrew Gray '92.

RERUNS

Filmmaker, environmentalist and third-generation explorer Alexandra Cousteau will share insights gained from a lifetime of world travel and water advocacy during the Luther College Commencement address Sunday, May 22. Commencement ceremonies begin at 10 a.m. in Carlson Stadium. Tickets are required for those attending the ceremony. Guests with tickets should be seated by 9:45 a.m. The ceremony will be streamed live at stream.luther.edu.

Martin Klammer will sign copies of his book Out, Out Brief Candle! Macbeth Comes to Africa's Children of Fire, Friday, May 13,11:00-12:00 in the Book Shop. The book tells of his work in Johannesburg, South Africa with child survivors of fire and includes writings from students in the 2015 J-term class. 
   
Native prairie plant sale at the farmers market, Saturdays in May (May 14, 21, and 28, or until plants are sold out). Provide benefits to native pollinators and brighten up your yard with native wildflowers and grasses! Proceeds benefit Luther's land stewardship program. Contact Molly with questions.

The Martin Luther statue and base, located on the east side of Larsen Hall on the Luther College campus, is being restored by the Midwest Art Conservation Center and Moore Drywall and Plastering LLC. The statue itself received a thorough washing and corrosion removal, followed by two layers of patina, a hot wax and a cold wax. Cracks in the base will be stabilized, re-lathed and repainted.
