Keep the Conversation Going: What does 'Safe Space' Mean for Us? Tuesday, May 3 at 5:15 p.m. in Olin Hall 102. Many campuses and communities are involved in discussions about "safe space," so what does this idea mean for the Luther and Decorah communities? Where does the idea of safe space come from? How does it shape the conversations we can have? These questions and more will be explored in this conversation meant to model good disagreement, like the "truth seeking" we recently saw between Cornel West and Robert George.

Interested in learning about how cooperatives help build a sustainable society? Come to the joint ECO/Aynah meeting at 7:00 on Tuesday, May 3 in Sustainability House! Aynah co-director Jason Rodney will be visiting from the Twin Cities to lead the workshop.

Working on a paper? Doing some research? Wondering how to keep track of your sources, create a bibliography and footnotes? Zotero (free application) helps you collect, manage, and cite your sources. Bring your laptop to our workshop and learn how to download Zotero and set it up to manage your resources (available for PCs and MACs).

Directors and performers of Luther College's "Body of Water" project are thrilled to welcome their collaborators, the Bluestem Institute, to Decorah on Friday, April 29. The Bluestem Institute is a unique educational program at Ames High School where students perform a year-long service-learning project while receiving credits in English, environmental science, government and sociology.The students will present their artwork from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, April 29, in Bentdahl Commons.

The Visual & Performing Arts Department is looking for participants to help present the piece "What is Consent?" for first-year orientation in the fall of 2016. Participants will be chosen by interview. Those interested can sign up on the call board in the CFA no later than Thursday, May 5th. Any further questions can be sent to weisjo01@luther.edu.

Igor Kalnin, visiting assistant professor of music will perform a violin recital with guest pianist Rochelle Sennet at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 7, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music

Break Free Decorah will host a solar workshop and expo with the help of the Winneshiek Energy District May 5 in Valders 206 at 6:30 p.m.; May 7 at the Winneshiek Farmer's Market, Break Free Decorah will host an electric car show (10 a.m.-12 p.m.), a local foods booth, a bicycle blender, solar oven exhibit, mechanical and solar powered lawn mowers, a tiny house informational booth and more! Join us May 7, 8 a.m.-12 p.m.

From 11-11:30 a.m. Derek Sweet will be signing his new book "Star Wars in the Public Square: The Clone Wars as Political Dialogue." There will be games, discounts, food, and more. The Visual and Performing Arts department presents Tony Kushner's, "The Illusion," April 29-30 and May 5-7 in the Jewel Theatre in the Center for the Arts. Representing the culmination of 17 dedicated students' art journeys, Luther College senior art majors present a gallery exhibit of their collective works May 5-22 in the Kristen Wigley-Fleming Fine Arts Gallery and the Gregerson Gallery in the Center for the Arts. A reception for the student artists will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 21, in the Center for the Arts.

Looking to earn some end of year cash and spend a few extra days on campus? Luther Sustainability is partnering with the Food Pantry, the Spectrum Network, and the Depot Outlet to donate food, clothes, furniture, rugs, and more during student move-out and is looking to hire students to help with the process. Interested? You should be! Contact Sam Pollan by April 29th to sign up!
