Come see the amazing American Spiritual Ensemble, the critically-acclaimed operatic group! These artists blend historic American hymns and African rhythms, creating a musical juxtaposition of salvation and lamentation that resonates still today. The show is on April 7 at 7:30 p.m.in the Center for Faith and Life. The performance is presented in partnership with Classical Minnesota Public Radio. Tickets are free with CAF, $24 without. J-Term 2017 information meeting: Zora Neale Hurston and the Harlem Renaissance (AFST/ENG/WGST 240), Tuesday, April 5, 6:30 p.m. Hovde Lounge (Library),

Tours of the cadaver lab. The Human Dissection class will be giving tours across various dates and times from April 5 to April 13. Luther students, faculty, and staff are all welcome to attend. Please join us Thursday, April 7 at 4:00 p.m. in Baker Commons for the annual Don Kemp Memorial Event. The keynote speaker is Susan Schmidt, speaking on "Central American Children on the Run." We will induct new members into the Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society and award two scholarships in memory of Don Kemp and Jessa Slostad. On Friday, April 8, Schmidt will speak in chapel at 10:30am.
 
Area women of all ages have an opportunity to learn more about financial management, retirement and estate planning, and charitable giving at the 12th annual Women, Faith and Finance seminar on Friday, April 8. Hosted by Luther College, the one-day educational seminar will be presented 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Hotel Winneshiek.
 
Opening reception for The Little Show in the Preus Library Gallery, Monday April 4, 4-5 p.m. Featuring little artworks from the Luther College Fine Arts Collection, placed in conversation with the quirky "square stories" of Louis Jensen, this exhibit is part of Lise Kildegaard's Jones Professor project. Curated by Anna Johnson ('16). Small is beautiful!

The Luther College Football Cheerleading Squad will be holding tryouts next weekend. They will be held in the North Gym on April 8 from 7-9 p.m. and April 9 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. (it is recommended participants be there for both days). Participants should come wearing t-shirt, shorts, tennis shoes, and a smile. Cheer experience is recommended but not required and those interested or those who have questions should contact cheerleaders@luther.edu.
 
 
Recent Luther graduates Ben Harney, Jon Williams, and Kai Ashland will share their experiences from their biking trip from Mexico border to Ushuaia, Argentina. They will share how the trip came about, encounters with people of different cultures, and other memories that will recap their travels! Native prairie transplanting in the greenhouse: Saturday, April 2, 2 - 4 p.m. Meet in the Sam-Hoff greenhouse.  Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty.  Dress in layers as it can get pretty warm in the greenhouse.
 
Garlic mustard pull events on campus (weather permitting): Sunday, April 3, 2-4 p.m. Meet in the Sam-Hoff first floor study lounge.  Wear long pants, clothes you don't mind getting dirty, closed toed shoes, and bring a water bottle.

The Career Center is accepting applications for Career Assistant work-study positions for the 2016-17 academic year.  Career Assistants work approximately10 hour per week assisting office staff with projects and assisting peers with resumes and cover letters. A detailed job description is available in the Career Center.  Interested applicants should submit a cover letter and resume to Carol Johnston in the Career Center by 5 pm on Thursday, April 14.  Current Sophomores and Juniors are encouraged to apply.

Did you know that over 80,000 disposable coffee sleeves are used per year at Luther? Student Sustainability Educators are asking for denim donations to make reusable coffee sleeves, to be distributed on campus. Donations will be collected in the box in the SOS in the Union from until
April 6. Any denim donations will be accepted as long as they are clean (holes are okay).

Due to a touring conflict, the Panic! At The Disco Concert (sponsored by SAC Concerts) has been rescheduled to Saturday, April 9. The location and time of the event remain the same. All tickets with the April 16th date will be honored. Questions? Please contact the Ticket Office or SAC Concerts.

LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE! April 1 is the due date for books checked out from the main stacks by students before Monday, March 28. Books may be renewed once online or by bringing them in physically to the circulation desk if you have exceeded the renewal limit. The new due date is May 13, the last day of classes this spring. Click on "Library Account" online, then "My Library Account" in the upper right corner after signing in to see what you have checked out and when it is due.
   
Bringing to a close nine years of unique performances, the final SONG JAM, part of a performance series devoted to art song by women composers, will take place at 5:15 p.m. Monday, April 4, in the CFL Recital Hall. Jessica Paul, creator and lead advocate of Luther's Song Jam, will collaborate on piano for the concert. She will retire at the end of the 2015-16 academic year.
 
Luther College Dance Marathon's Third Annual Big Event will take place April 2, 2016 from noon until midnight.  Dancers will stand for 12 straight hours to raise awareness and money for the University of Iowa Children's Hospital!  Community members are invited to check out the event from 1pm-5pm.  Donations can be made online.  Please check out www.luther.edu/dance-marathon .

On Friday April 1 from 11 a.m.-1p.m. there will be a table outside of Marty's that has all you would like to know about studying and interning abroad in exotic and historical places. Come on by and pick up a brochure and learn more about where else in the world you can go!
