McElroy Fellowships: Graduating seniors intending to pursue a Ph.D. in any field; $30,000 stipend over a three-year period; Luther may nominate only one candidate, but only 10 colleges may submit nominees for the two annual awards. During J-Term 2016, 296 Luther students and 30 faculty/staff program leaders will participate in one of 18 courses somewhere in the world. Balls, Brains, and Babies! Miriam Blom Skrade '04 will share how her interdisciplinary education informs her vocations as a tennis coach, grade school movement advocate, and midwife assistant. Join her Tuesday, January 12 from 6-9 p.m. in Regents 224 to hear stories, learn about research in Kinesiology/Exercise Psychology, move, and find ways to integrate the body to your major and future career. This project is funded by the Career Center. The Speech and Debate Center is in need of tutors during January. Hours are between 5-10 p.m.Sundays through Thursdays - hours can be split among tutors. The Dean's Office is pleased to sponsor a reading group for the book Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking by Susan Cain. Professors Joe Breitenstein and Paul Gardner will help lead a discussion of the book from 3-5 p.m. Friday, January 15 in Mott Room in Dahl Centennial Union. Iowa Caucus Exhibit -- This January, Preus Library is hosting a traveling exhibit from the State Historical Museum of Iowa. First in the Nation: Shaping Presidential Politics since 1972 will be on the Main Floor of Preus Library January 4-15. The display includes video clips, images and artifacts from past caucuses. Launching Luther Leaders is seeking new student membership from the class of 2018. Faculty, staff and current classes of L3 may nominate potential and current student leaders who want to develop their leadership skills and pursue a variety of leadership experiences.
