The Center Stage Series is honored to present: Letters Home, on Thursday, November 12 at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for Faith and Life. This show brings to life real letters written by soldiers serving in the Middle East and their families back at home. Their words give audiences a powerful portrait of soldiers' experiences in the conflicts. Tickets are free with CAF, $25 without. To purchase tickets, visit the Ticket Office or go online.
LOST AND FOUND brings their farewell tour to Luther's Center for Faith and Life, Saturday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. The suggested donation for general admission tickets is $10.00 per person, free with Luther ID. The concert will include a free will offering. Exploring music from the 1940s, '50s and '60s, the Luther College Jazz Band will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, November 7, in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life. The performance will include selections by Jerome Kern, Mercer Ellington, Benny Golson, Eddie Harris, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker and Michael Philip Mossman. The Vocal Jazz Ensemble will perform two songs during the program, one by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and the other by Chick Corea.
OFF-CAMPUS STUDY APPLICATIONS ARE READY . Thinking of studying abroad or elsewhere in the U.S. during summer 2016, fall 2016, spring 2017 or the 2016-17 academic year? If so, you need to complete a Luther application by March 1, and in some cases earlier. Reminder that Monday, November 9, at 5:00 p.m. is the deadline to submit an abstract for the 2016 National Conference on Undergraduate Research, to be held April 7-9, 2016 at the University of North Carolina at Asheville. Interested in being one of Luther's Summer 2016 Peace Scholars in Norway? Two students will be awarded this study opportunity in Norway, June 19-August 5. All program fees, including academic credit, room, and board are covered. Due to an artist conflict, G Yamazawa's performance in Marty's on Friday, November 13 has been cancelled. SAC Spotlight is in the process of adding additional events during Spring.
The Visual and Performing Arts department presents the musical, Sunday in the Park with George by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine. The performances will be held in the Jewel Theatre in the Center for the Arts November 13-14 and November 19-21. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $10 for students and children, and free with a Luther student ID.

Winneshiek County Public Health Nursing Services is seeking a clerical assistant who is available to work on Tuesdays and Fridays and be flexible on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Duties include copying, filing, transcription, data-entry and database creation using Office Access. Qualifications include organizational skills; must be computer literate; alphabetization critical; able to stand, squat, kneel or sit; operate office equipment; able to work independently and have good people skills. Helping Services is seeking secretarial support for the administration during J-term. Duties include computer work, operation of office machines and creative opportunities in program development and support. Qualifications include computer literacy; familiarity with excel is preferred; dependable; accurate; ability to work in teams; open to new projects or tasks and ability to arrange transportation to Helping Services' office. Northeast Iowa Peace and Justice Center is seeking a food security coordinator. Duties include meeting with and reporting progress of all committees to staff; oversee donations and delivery arrangements; assist at public events and create lists of volunteers. Qualifications include ability to engage with people, well organized, have clear communication, basic computer skills and an interest in food systems. Freelance photojournalist Lynn Johnson depicts recovering veterans of the Middle East wars in her large-scale photograph exhibit "Unmasked: Soldiers Heal from Blast Force Damage" on display November 12 to January 10, in Preus Library. The opening of the show includes a reception in the Hovde Room from 5-7:15 p.m. Thursday, November 12. A special invitation is extended to area veterans and their families to come together at that time.
Minnesota poet and executive and artistic director of Motionpoems, Inc., Todd Boss, will present a showing of short-short film adaptations called Motionpoems at 4 p.m. Friday, November 13, in Valders Hall of Science, Room 206.The event is open to the public with no charge for admission.Motionpoems turn contemporary poems into films. The films-each two or three minutes long-combine striking visuals with music and spoken word.
