The Center Stage Series is proud to present the 5 Browns, on Friday, November 6 at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for Faith and Life. Don't miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness piano as you've never heard it before. Five Steinways and five performers will make classical and contemporary music come alive with energy and spirit. Tickets are free with CAF, $26 without. Luther College's Song Jam performance features a program dedicated to art song by women composers at 5:15 p.m. Monday, November 2, in the Recital Hall of the Center for Faith and Life. The performance features pieces by composers Mel Bonis, Undine Smith Moore, Margaret Bonds, Clara Schumann, Paula Kimper, Jennifer Higdon and Judith Weir.
 
We need your voice! The Performing Arts Committee would like to invite all who are interested to a discussion on future shows coming to Luther! The meeting is on Wednesday, October 28 at 6 p.m. in Qualley Lounge in the CFL. We would like the input of anyone who is interested in the Center Stage Series or the performing arts at Luther! If you have ideas, we want to hear them! As always, food is provided!
 
It was announced at the Oen Fellows presentation on October 20 that a smaller four channel version of the sixteen channel Impermanence exhibit by David and Hi-Jin Kang Hodge would be installed in the Centennial Union gallery beginning October 23. The exhibit will now be installed in the Wigley-Fleming Gallery in the Center for the Arts during J-term 2016. The Luther Community is invited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month on Thursday, October 29,in Peace Dining Room from 6:30-8:00 p.m. There will be a presentation to honor Hispanic-Americans, acts performed by various student groups, and light snacks provided. The event is free, but please RSVP at https://www.luther.edu/diversity/programs/events/hhc/.
 
Davis Projects for Peace -- Luther has been invited to participate in the summer 2016 Davis Projects for Peace. Luther students interested in designing and implementing their own grassroots projects for peace are encouraged to submit proposals of 3 pages or less by January 11, 2016. If selected, students receive $10,000 to implement projects somewhere in the world during summer 2016. For details and application information, contact Jon Lund or Terry Sparkes.
 
VOLUNTEER/NONPROFIT CAREER FAIR: Thursday, November 5, Dahl Centennial Union, 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Looking for an internship, part-time, full-time or volunteer position in the nonprofit sector? Attend this event on campus and network with representatives from over 25 local, regional, and national nonprofit organizations about their career opportunities. Check out the Career Center's website for a current list of participants.
 
Luther alumni and owners of Pulpit Rock Brewing Company, Pete and Kari Espinosa, invite Luther students to a free Thanksgiving Dinner from12-4 p.m. Thursday, November 26, at Pulpit Rock Brewing Company. Students may sign up to attend the dinner from noon-1 p.m.,1-2 p.m., 2-3 p.m., or 3-4 p.m.; the dinner is split into four seatings to allow more people to attend. Students must sign up in the Luther Diversity Center or online by Thursday, November 19. No alcohol served.
 
Keep it Going Event - A Campus Conversation: Islamophobia, Education, and Civil Rights. On November 3 at 7 p.m. in Marty's the Luther community is invited to reflect on the arrest of Ahmed Mohamed a 14 year old Muslim student in Texas. A panel with Dr. Todd Green, Dr. Jeannette Pillsbury, and students will open conversation around this event and what it means for Luther students. The discussion will encourage reflection on our education and justice system. The conversation will be moderated by Dr. Robert Shedinger.
 
With a varied program ranging from 18th century Austria to 21st century America, Xiao Hu, Luther College associate professor of music, and Spencer Martin, Luther associate professor of music, will perform a piano and viola recital at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 31, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Music Hall.
