 A radio expedition to Navassa Island will be the topic of a presentation by Dr. Glenn Johnson, a Decorah surgeon, on Thursday, September 24 at 7:30 p.m., in Valders Hall of Science, Room 262. Dr. Johnson led a team of amateur radio operators to this primitive wildlife refuge in February. He will explain amateur radio, the expedition and the environmental challenges of the team's weeks on Navassa.
SAC Leadership will be hosting guest lecturer Adam Carroll on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 7:30 pm in Valders 206. Adam will be speaking on the topic of financial wellness. "Adam has been a frequent guest lecturer on over 500 campuses and at hundreds of college leadership and fraternity conferences. When attendees are asked what they thought of Adam's presentations, they use words like, "inspirational, impactful, hilarious, and 100% relevant to our situation."

Robert Shedinger will discuss the reluctance of evolutionary scientists to re-evaluate the theory of evolution at 6 p.m. Thursday, September 24, in the Center for Faith and Life Recital Hall. Shedinger's lecture, Resistance to Change in a Theory of Change: Religion, Science and Evolutionary Theory's Failure to Evolve, is the opening lecture of the Luther College 2015-16 Religion Forum Series.
Need some new decorations to spruce up your room or office? The Center for Sustainable Communities and the Luther College Grounds Crew are hosting a Plant Giveaway on Tuesday, September 22 from 9:40-10:50 a.m. Students and staff are welcome to stop by the greenhouse outside of Valders to pick up a plant, all which have been grown from clippings from plants already on campus.

What's Your Story? Luther sophomores are invited to a retreat on vocational reflection and conversation at Camp EWALU (Strawberry Point) October 2-3. The retreat is hosted by Luther's Career Center and the Office for College Ministries. Costs are covered through the NetVUE grant. As part of her current U.S. tour Carol Chapman, guest soprano, will perform a voice recital at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, in the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music, Noble Recital Hall.
Chapman will perform songs by composers Franz Liszt, Claude Debussy, Thomas Pasatieri and Richard Strauss, and will be accompanied by pianist James Benecasa.

SPOKES, Luther's student-led bike club, is inviting all Luther students, faculty, and staff out for a ride on the Trout Run Trail on Saturday, September 19 at 2:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity to get to know the people you see at Luther and engage in a healthy and sustainable activity that everyone loves! The third annual Faculty Research Symposium begins at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, September 19, in Valders Hall of Science, Room 206. Interdisciplinary panel presentations will commence at 10:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. in Valders Hall of Science, Room 206 and in the Franklin W. Olin Building, Room 102.
Hailed by the Des Moines Register as "clear and ferociously expressive," Luther College's music department is pleased to host Valeria Kishkunas in a guest voice recital at 4 p.m. Sunday, September 20, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music. Performing a mix of solo harpsichord and chamber works Kathryn Reed, Luther College instructor in music, will perform a recital at 4 p.m. Saturday, September 19, in the Noble Recital Hall in Jenson-Noble Music Hall.Featuring a selection of French works for flute, Amy Engelsdorfer, Luther College assistant professor of music, will perform a flute recital at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, September 20, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music.
Featuring music as prayer and proclamation, Gregory Peterson, Luther College associate professor of music and Luther organist, will perform an organ recital titled "Songs of Petition, Peace and Proclamation" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, in the Center for Faith and Life, Main Hall.
