SPOKES, Luther's student-led bike club, is inviting all Luther students, faculty, and staff out for a ride on the Trout Run Trail on Saturday, September 19 at 2:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity to get to know the people you see at Luther and engage in a healthy and sustainable activity that everyone loves! We will meet at the Luther Bell. Everyone of any biking level is invited. See you there!

The third annual Faculty Research Symposium begins at 9:15 a.m. Saturday, September 19, in Valders Hall of Science, Room 206. Interdisciplinary panel presentations will commence at 10:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. in Valders Hall of Science, Room 206 and in the Franklin W. Olin Building, Room 102. 

Hailed by the Des Moines Register as "clear and ferociously expressive," Luther College's music department is pleased to host Valeria Kishkunas in a guest voice recital at 4 p.m. Sunday, September 20
, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music.

Performing a mix of solo harpsichord and chamber works Kathryn Reed, Luther College instructor in music, will perform a recital at 4 p.m. Saturday, September 19, in the Noble Recital Hall in Jenson-Noble Music Hall.

Featuring a selection of French works for flute, Amy Engelsdorfer, Luther College assistant professor of music, will perform a flute recital at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, September 20, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music.

Featuring music as prayer and proclamation, Gregory Peterson, Luther College associate professor of music and Luther organist, will perform an organ recital titled "Songs of Petition, Peace and Proclamation" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, in the Center for Faith and Life, Main Hall.

In the opening lecture of the 2015-16 Paideia Texts and Issues Series, Anna Peterson, Luther College assistant professor of history, will present the lecture, Narrating change: Norwegian women's abortion letters, held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, in the Recital Hall of the Center for Faith and Life. The lecture will be followed by a reception in Qualley Lounge. 
 
Luther College's music department is pleased to host Svend Rønning in a guest violin recital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, September 17, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Hall of Music. Rønning will also give a public lecture on Scandinavian music at 9:40 a.m. Thursday September 17, in the Center for Faith and Life, Recital Hall.

Richard Merritt, Luther professor of art, investigates the visual principles of big data through a series of paintings and drawings in his art exhibit "Schemata," on display September 7-October 18 in the Kristin Wigley-Fleming Fine Arts Gallery in the CFA. The result of several years of research on social media data, Merritt's exhibit seeks to strip the raw data from models, leaving them with pure schemata. A gallery reception will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, October 17.

Luther has received a $20,000 grant from CIC-NetVUE, the Council of Independent Colleges-Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education. The NetVUE Chaplaincy Implementation Grant will support a one-year series of student-faculty-staff retreats focusing on the exploration of vocation.  Specifically, these retreats connect College Ministries with the Career Center and faculty advising as they work with sophomore students, with a focus on those who have not yet declared an academic major. 

Luther College student looking for a house that needs to be looked after and would provide living arrangements from May 19, 2016- August 10, 2016. Willing to provide house sitting services after 2016 summer for entire school year of 2016-2017. Also searching for house sitting opportunities throughout 2016-2017 year that do not provide living arrangements.
