Join Sustainability staff Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. for a walk around campus to identify energy inefficiencies and areas for improvement, and to earn yourself a Sugar Bowl gift card! Meet in Valders 374 through May 13th.

The Center for Sustainable Communities is hosting a series titled Luther and Climate Change. The series will run from 9:40-10:30 a.m.  Thursday mornings in Valders 367. The presentations will focus on one topic each and will last about 15 minutes, followed by a question and answer session and discussion. The upcoming sessions will focus on economics, technology, Luther's commitments and actions, and local food. Everyone is welcome. Refreshments will be provided.

How about dedicating 3 hours of your time to help Decorah community residents clean up their yards now that spring is approaching? Spring Fling will be Saturday, May 2 with three-hour time slots from  9-noon and 1-4 p.m. Encourage your organization to participate or sign up individually. Sophomore-Senior Computer Science Majors: On Wednesday, April 15, Jon Holt '86, Information Services Manager from Federated Insurance in Owatonna, MN, will be in the Career Center Library (Union 2nd floor) from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. to meet with students on an informal basis. Federated will be hiring several Associate Systems Developers over the next year. If you are a computer science major and would like to learn more about their job opportunities, please stop by.

 

April is STD Awareness month. Health Service in collaboration with NEICAC (Northeast Iowa Community Action Corp.) will be offering FREE and CONFIDENTIAL testing on campus. No Appointment necessary. Monday April 20 from 1:30-4:30 p.m. in Health Service, Larsen Hall.

 


The Center for Sustainable Communities is hiring student recyclers for next year. This position is related to campus recycling, composting, and redeemable items as needed in order to help Luther College to be a more environmentally conscious campus. Team up with a fellow student and learn how Luther recycles through work study. You must have a valid driver's license to be eligible. Positions start September 2015. There will be an information meeting for "Tales of the Sea," --  a J-term literature course in the Virgin Islands aboard the schooner, Roseway -- Tuesday April 14, at 5:45 pm, in the Mott Room, Union. All interested students are welcome.

luther College's Brass Ensembles will perform in concert at 

7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 16, in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall.

Luther's Mass Brass Ensemble, Trumpet Ensemble, Horn Choir, Trombone Choir and Tuba Euphonium Ensemble, will perform both modern and classical styles, as well as arrangements and original compositions for brass.    

 

Robert Wolf, Bonnie Koloc, and friends will read from a forthcoming Free River Press anthology, American Portraits, with stories from Pine Ridge Reservation, Texas ranches, Iowa farms, Chicago and elsewhere. Reading will be videotaped by Luther student Emily Tope for a documentary. Where: Luther College, Olin 102. When: April 15, 7:00-8:00 p.m. Admission free.

Calling all Classics Scholars! Our daughter needs to learn first-year Latin basics for her new curriculum beginning in Autumn 2015. We would love the help of a Luther Latin scholar who will be in Decorah to help her along over course of the summer months.
