Invertebrate Hike Join Professor Kirk Larsen on a hike in Anderson Prairie and Hickory Ridge Woods at 1:00 pm on Saturday, September 27 at the Baker Village Commons parking area to catch and learn more about the many invertebrates living in the area.

 

Want to learn more about Habitat for Humanity? Habitat is having an informational meeting Tuesday, September 23 at 7:30pm in Valders 362.  Come to learn more about what Habitat does, including the Spring Break service trip! 

 

GRADUATE/PROFESSIONAL SCHOOL DAY! Thursday, September 25, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in the Dahl Centennial Union. Over 30 universities will be attending to visit with students about their programs and application process. The Luther College Book Shop is hosting the fifth annual storybook reading session from 11 a.m.-noon Saturday, September 20, in the lobby of Dahl Centennial Union. Part of Luther's Family Weekend events, the event will feature Luther education department students dressed as their favorite storybook characters as they read selections from various children's books. Refreshments will be served at the event, which is open to the public with no charge for admission. 

 

Benjamin Yates, Luther College adjunct faculty in music, will perform a trombone recital at 7 p.m. Friday, September 19, in the Center for Faith and Life Main Hall. Yates will perform on alto, tenor and bass trombones. The recital features trombone and organ duo works and a varied program with works from the 14th century to the present.    


The critically acclaimed Elkina Piano Duo will perform a piano recital at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, in the Noble Recital Hall of the Jenson-Noble Music Hall on the Luther campus. The duo's recital will focus on the works of Russian composers.   

 

Luther College's Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Band will perform as part of Luther's 2014 Family Weekend festivities at 8:45 p.m. Saturday, September 20, in Marty's. Luther's Jazz Band is under the direction of Jon Ailabouni. The Jazz Orchestra is under the direction of Juan Tony Guzm�n.

Luther College's music department will present an evening of choral and instrumental music at 7 p.m. Saturday, September 20, as part of Family Weekend activities. The concert is in the Center for Faith and Life, Main Hall. Seven ensembles will perform, including Aurora, Cantorei, Cathedral Choir, Collegiate Chorale, Norsemen, Wind and Percussion Ensemble and Varsity Band. 

 

The Luther College Concert Band and Jazz Orchestra will perform in concert at12:30 p.m. Saturday, September 20, in Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life. Joan deAlbuquerque directs the Concert Band and Juan Tony Guzm�n directs the Jazz Orchestra. The Luther College Concert Band is among the country's outstanding college bands, while Luther's Jazz Orchestra is one of the outstanding college jazz ensembles in the Upper Midwest.
