The annual BTQ Talent Show, sponsored by Luther College's Diversity Center and the Beta Theta Omega (BTQ), a women's leadership and service group, will feature student talent at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 26, in the Main Hall of the Center for Faith and Life. The show will feature vocal and instrumental music, dance and poetry.

After a year-long commitment from more than 500 people, the Luther College Dance Marathon raised a total of $38,612.01 to send to the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. Dance Marathon is a nationwide movement involving college and high school students at more than 150 schools across the country. Students spend a year raising funds and interacting with children's hospital patients and families.
Professors and students at Luther College and Lafayette College are investigating southern hemisphere climate change over the last six million years to better understand key linkages and feedbacks within Earth's climate system. The project is funded through a $135,235 grant from the National Science Foundation awarded in June 2013 to Laura Peterson, Luther College assistant professor of environmental studies and chemistry, and a similarly funded grant awarded to collaborator Kira Lawrence, associate professor of geology at Lafayette College.
The Social Sciences Department is hiring office assistants for the 2014-15 academic year. One position will begin Fall 2014 and two begin Spring 2015. Duties include assisting with projects for dept. faculty, scanning/copying, running errands, etc. Applicants must have necessary computer skills, be very detail oriented, reliability of scheduled hours, and able to work with minimal supervision. Eat Your Way Across Campus: Edible Landscapes 2014--Based on your feedback, plans have been established for the 2014 Valders and Ylvi Edible Landscapes. This season you can expect to find cherry tomatoes, ground cherries, eggplant, peppers, basil, lettuce, spinach, cucumbers, mini watermelon, kale, chard, beans and common herbs. Keep in mind that you are welcome to harvest from these gardens. Just be sure to close the gate behind you to keep out the critters!
