Q&A with legendary composer Philip Glass will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 5 in the CFL Recital Hall. The session will be facilitated by Brooke Joyce and Luther's student composers, but all students are welcome to attend. Don't forget to grab your ticket for Philip Glass's solo piano performance on the Friday night before at 7:30 p.m. in the CFL!

 

Do you have questions about room draw? Check out the Res Life website or plan to attend an information session on April 8 at 8:00 pm in Brunsdale Lounge. First-year students can attend a session in their own buildings on April 10: Ylvisaker at7:00, Brandt at8:00, and Olson at9:00. Applications are now available on the website or in the Res Life office for suites, clusters, and triple apartments.

 

J-TERM 2015 IN TANZANIA: "Anthropology in East Africa: Culture Change Among the Maasai" is a cultural immersion experience offered for Anthropology, Africana Studies, or Environmental Studies credit. A reading by author Patrick Hicks will be held Thursday, April 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the F.W. Olin Building, Room 102. Patrick Hicks is the author of the brand-new novel The Commandant of Lubizec, the forthcoming short story collection The Collector of Names, and five poetry collections. Books will be available for purchase and signing after the reading. Co-sponsored by the Center for Ethics and Public Life and the Department of English at Luther College

 

Author and professor of ethnomusicology Anne Rasmussen will present a Sihler Lecture on women, music and Qur'anic recitation in Indonesia at 4:30 p.m. Friday, April 11, in Room 102 of the F.W. Olin Building.

Girl Scout event at Camp Tahigwa (Dorchester, Iowa) looking for students with backpacking experience to share their knowledge with girls in middle and high school preparing for their own overnight backpacking adventure. Legendary 20th century composer Philip Glass will perform a solo piano concert on Friday, April 4th at 7:30 p.m. Glass will personally announce the program from the stage which will include pieces for solo piano and reductions of his larger compositions. Sean Burke, Luther College associate professor of religion, will present the Paideia Text and Issues lecture, "Engaging the Ancient 'Other': Identity and Alterity" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, in the Center for Faith and Life Recital Hall. The lecture will be followed by a reception in Qualley Lounge.

   

"Good Grief" -- Students who have experienced the loss of a loved one are warmly invited to join College Ministries and Counseling Service for a light supper and conversation on Tuesday, April 8th from 6:00-7:15 pm in Nansen. LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE! April 4 is the due date for books checked out from the main stacks by students on or before Friday, March 21. Books may be renewed once online or by bringing them in to the circulation desk if you have exceeded the renewal limit. The new due date is May 16. Click on "LibraryAccount", then "My Library Account" in the upper right corner after signing in to see what you have checked out and when it is due.

An art exhibit featuring abstract acrylic paintings by Iowa artist Mary Zeran will be on display April 1-May 25 in the Center for Faith and Life Gallery, on the upper level of the building. The 17 abstract collages displayed in the exhibit"All Things Beautiful"feature cheerful colors and undulating brushstrokes on a variety of surfaces. Zeran has been creating mixed media collage and assemblage for more than 20 years.

  

Money found in the Library! A container of coins was left at the library copiers prior to spring break. Also, cash was found on the floor near the computer lab on the main floor on Monday during break. Contact [email protected] to claim if you think either may belong to you. 

 

Join the Luther Book Shop for PEEPtacular Day, 8:45 a.m.-4:45 p.m. Friday, April 4. The day will feature Peep treats, marshmallow bars and Peep punch, displays of all Peep dioramas submitted for the contest, voting for the top dioramas from 8:45 a.m.-3:30 p.m., and Book Shop specials throughout the day. Diorama winners announced at 4 p.m.
