This month, the Career Center is launching a new program, "Beyond the Bubble". This program consists of a series of 45-minute seminars designed to equip students both personally and professionally for life after college. Open to all Luther students, seminars are scheduled for Tuesday during Shadow Block or Tuesday in the evening. Topics range from tips to living on your own to basic computer maintenance. Seminar descriptions can be found at  

 

OFF-CAMPUS STUDY APPLICATIONS DUE FEBRUARY/MARCH. Thinking of studying abroad or elsewhere in the U.S.? All students planning to study off-campus during summer 2014, fall 2014, spring 2015 or the entire 2014-15 year, need to complete a Luther application by February or March, and in some cases earlier. Contact Elizabeth Finanger to request the appropriate application and to meet to talk about your plans!

 

Green Lake Lutheran Ministries (Spicer, MN) will have an information table outside of Marty's Cafe TODAY, Tuesday, January 14 from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. Stop by to visit with the representatives about their summer camp opportunities.

  

An art exhibit titled "An Interior Life" by Virginia artist Travis Head, will be on display January 15-March 7, in the Kristin Wigley-Fleming Fine Arts Gallery in the Center for the Arts. Head will visit campus during the exhibit, giving an artist's talk at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 27, in the Center for the Arts, Room 203. An artist's reception will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, February 28, in the Wigley-Fleming Fine Arts Gallery.

 

An increase in the cost of postage stamps will occur January 26. Take this opportunity to anticipate future stamp needs. Contact Deb in the Book Shop at 1832 for large departmental stamp orders. Please submit our order by Wednesday, January 22. 

 

Decorah Shopping Shuttle - Saturday, January 18th at 1:30 p.m.. A shuttle will drive students to downtown Decorah and Wal-Mart for a shopping run.  Meet in the Student Organizational Suite 10 minutes before departure.  Advanced sign up is highly recommended using the online form.

Student Payroll will be Tuesday, January 14 for December work. Your electronic pay advice will be available at My.Luther on January 14. If you have a work credit plan, both your statement of account and your pay advice will be available on My.Luther.

Due to an overwhelming inventory of flu vaccine, Health Service would like to remind students, staff/faculty/spouses/significant others that we still have flu vaccine available. the Health Department in Decorah has run out of but Health Service still has vaccine. We have reduced our fee to $20.00. Influenza is officially widespread now in Iowa and Minnesota. Stay healthy by getting your flu shot today, no appointment necessary.

 

The annual Brandt Open Mic Bar (B.O.M.B) is on Saturday, January 18 from 7-11 in Marty's. Come to watch your fellow students show off their talent at this event. Free non-alcoholic drinks will be served. The event is free and open to all students, so bring your friends!  It'll be the best night of J-term! Soups On: Easy Soups for Winter Days Cooking Class - Join us on Wednesday, January 15th from 12:00-1pm in Valders 379 and learn simple tips for making good soup. We'll be making (and eating) a savory Harvest Squash and Apple Sou. We'll also cover the basics of making your own stock. Plan to learn the how-tos of basic soup making and take home recipes for soups to enhance your winter meals.
