Student Payroll will be Tuesday, January 14 for December work. Your electronic pay advice will be available at My.Luther on January 14. If you have a work credit plan, both your statement of account and your pay advice will be available on My.Luther.

 

Kent Annan, author of After Shock & Following Jesus through the Eye of the Needle, will speak in chapel Friday, January 10, 10:30 a.m., CFL Recital Hall, together with offerings of Haitian music by Bill Nathan & Walness Cangas of St. Joseph Family. Kent will sign books at the Luther Book Shop, 3:30-4:30, Friday, January 10 and will also offer a lecture and book signing, 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 11, CFL Recital Hall. Due to an overwhelming inventory of flu vaccine, Health Service would like to remind students, staff/faculty/spouses/significant others that we still have flu vaccine available. the Health Department in Decorah has run out of but Health Service still has vaccine. We have reduced our fee to $20.00. Influenza is officially widespread now in Iowa and Minnesota. Stay healthy by getting your flu shot today, no appointment necessary.

 

The annual Brandt Open Mic Bar (B.O.M.B) is on Saturday, January 18 from 7-11 in Marty's. Come to watch your fellow students show off their talent at this event. Free non-alcoholic drinks will be served. The event is free and open to all students, so bring your friends!  It'll be the best night of J-term! Soups On: Easy Soups for Winter Days Cooking Class - Join us on Wednesday, January 15th from 12:00-1pm in Valders 379 and learn simple tips for making good soup. We'll be making (and eating) a savory Harvest Squash and Apple Sou. We'll also cover the basics of making your own stock. Plan to learn the how-tos of basic soup making and take home recipes for soups to enhance your winter meals.

 

RERUNS

Luther will charter a bus to take students to the Nobel Peace Prize Forum in Minneapolis on Sunday, March 9.  If you want to attend the Forum on any of the other days (March 1 honoring His Holiness the Dalai Lama), March 7 (Law and Business Day), or March 8 (Science and Health Day) you will need to find your own transportation.  Information and registration at nobelpeaceprizeforum.org. Chapel will be offered daily at 10:30 a.m. during January. Monday and Fridays will invite us into reflections around music and preaching, Wednesdays will offer a chance to walk the Prayer Labyrinth, and Tuesday and Thursdays will offer spiritual practices that invite us to move from "Busyness into Openness"-- a theme we will explore further in February. Join us in chapel this J-term as we partner with the Wellness Program for a chance to BREATHE.

 

Luther Community Song Circle with Liz Rog. Join your voice to sing for the healing of the world and your own spirit. We'll join in circle songs to experience peace, unity and healing. Every Tuesday in J-term at 4 p.m. in Qualley Lounge (back of the CFL). Open to all members of the Luther community.  All voices welcomed--this is an audition-free zone. 

 

College Ministries invites the community to Lespwa f� nou viv / Hope Makes Us Live, a benefit concert for Haiti, Saturday, January 11, 7:00 p.m., CFL Main Hall.  Hope Makes us Live celebrates the legacy of Luther alumnus Ben Splichal Larson with music by Hans Peterson and Peter Mayer and offerings of Haitian culture by Bill Nathan and Walness Cagnes. McElroy Fellowships: Graduating seniors intending to pursue a Ph.D. in any field; $30,000 stipend over a three-year period; Luther may nominate only one candidate, but only 10 colleges may submit nominees for the two annual awards.
