Poster Contest: The Diversity Center seeks submissions for a poster contest advertising the Ethnic Arts Festival.  Winner receives a $50 bookstore certificate.  For full information, email Amy Webber at [email protected] or stop in the Diversity Center.

Deadline for submissions is January 6th.

All faculty, staff and students are invited to enter the Book Shop's Ugly Christmas Decoration contest. Bring your entries to the Book Shop by 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10. Voting will take place on Wednesday, December 11 until 4:30 p.m. The winner will be announced at 5:05 p.m.


The holiday season is fast approaching, so come and check out our international gifts! The Diversity Center will be selling fair trade gift items at 10% off on 5th and 6th of December from 9 am to 5 pm.   


Up to Us is an opportunity for students to create thought-provoking, fun, and impactful campus campaigns to educate and engage their peers about the effects of rising debt on economic opportunity and investment.  We are looking for student groups and individual people to help support, share ideas and promote our campaign. All students are invited to enter the Book Shop's annual Ugly Christmas Sweater contest. Come to the Book Shop wearing your sweater anytime before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 10 when a photo will be taken. Vote for the ugliest sweater until 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 11. A style show of all the sweater entries and judging of the top five finalists will take place at 5:45 p.m.

 

RERUNS

  

Interested in being one of Luther's 2014 Peace Scholars?  Two students will be awarded this study opportunity in Norway June 15 - August 1. All program fees, including academic credit, room and board are covered. An info session will be held Thursday, December 12, 7:30 p.m. in the Mott Room in the Union, hosted by 2013 scholars Maggie Steinberg and Cate Anderson.  Application requirements and more information available at peacescholars.wordpress.com  or by contacting Karen Martin-Schramm, [email protected]

  

This year's Nobel Peace Prize Forum will be held in Minneapolis March 1 (honoring His Holiness the Dalai Lama) and March 8-9 (featuring Nobel laureates Leymah Gbowee and Doctors without Borders). Tickets for the March 1 event are selling quickly.  Information and registration at nobelpeaceprizeforum.org.  Carpooling is encouraged.  For the March 8-9 events, Luther will be chartering a bus, with housing provided by Augsburg College students in their residence hall rooms. All seniors completing their senior papers this semester are invited to celebrate their accomplishment with a tasty cupcake, compliments of LIS. Decorah Shopping Shuttle - Tuesday, November 26th  at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. (Beginning of Thanksgiving Break). A shuttle will drive students to downtown Decorah and Wal-Mart for a shopping run. Meet in the Student Organizational Suite 10 minutes before departure. Advanced sign up is highly recommended using the online form.  

 

Christmas at Luther Parking Notice

Special parking regulations in effect beginning Wednesday,  

December 4, 8:00 p.m. to Sunday, December 8, 5:00 p.m.

 

The Valders parking lot will be converted to a Handicapped Only lot.  Alternative staff parking includes the Library lot, Farwell lot, Regents lot and the roadway from Valders out to College Drive.  The lots adjacent the CFL will also be designated as Handicapped Only for the performances but will be available for normal usage during the day until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday through Sunday.

 

Student vehicles must be removed from the Library, Jenson and City Pool lots. Alternative parking areas for these days include Regents lot, Farwell lot and the Dike Road.  

 

Exception:

 

 

Commuter students, with the proper permit, may park in the Commuter designated row in the Library lot from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, 12-5 and Friday 12-6.  Students may not park in Faculty Staff or Visitor areas during these nights. Any vehicle parked out of compliance is subject to a $25 fine under the Luther College Parking Regulations.
