SPECIAL NOTICE

In an attempt to rid the campus of abandoned bikes from bike racks on campus we are asking members of the Luther community  to tag their bike if they plan on using their bike during the winter months. Bike tags can be obtained from the Welcome Desk . Tags must be put on bikes that will be using the bike racks on campus during the winter months.  The tag this year is bright orange, so if you have a yellow tag from last year you must retag your bike with an orange tag. All bikes that do not have an orange tag will be removed on December 20.  Luther is not responsible for replacing locks or cables that may need cut for removal of bikes. This is an attempt to remove all abandoned bikes on campus to clear up spaces on the bikes racks.  If you have questions, please contact Gary Brickman.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Food Council would like to thank everyone who generously contributed spare change to "Penny Wars" to raise money for the Northeast Iowa Food Bank! We raised $107.61 as part of our "Orange Day" festivities in the Cafeteria, and "Orange Month", a campaign to end hunger in the U.S. Sophomores came in 1st place and Seniors came in 2nd place for the competition, and First Years raised the most money total.

In 2009 alone, the United States International Trade Commission reported that 102 billion plastic bags were used in the U.S. These bags, even when properly disposed of, are easily windblown and often wind up in waterways or on the landscape, becoming eyesores and degrading soil and water quality as they break down into toxic bits. To explore this issue, the documentary "Bag It" will be shown on Wednesday, November 20 in Olin 102 at 8 p.m.

The Luther English Department and the Center for Sustainable Communities present author Kate Lebo for three events Tuesday, November 19 on the Luther campus.
