First Person

First Person: Seeing America
is the next show in the Center Stage Series, coming up on Tuesday, March 5th at 7:30 pm in the CFL. Photographs of immigrants from the Metropolitan Museum of Art will be showcased, with musical accompaniment by the Ensemble Galilei and narration by Rob Nagle and Lily Knight. This show combines history, music, art, and more. Tickets are FREE with CAF and are available in the Box Office.


Barbara Lynch, visiting associate professor of international affairs at the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs at Georgia Tech, will discuss the fight for water in her lecture "River of Contention: Water Conflict and Governance in a Peruvian River Valley," at 7 pm Thursday, March 7, in the Mott-Borlaug Room in Dahl Centennial Union.

Get behind the scenes of the Center Stage Series! We're looking for volunteers to help with ushering, tech, and more. No experience is necessary and everyone is welcome! Volunteer as much or as little as you would like. The next meeting will be Thursday, March 7th at 8:00 pm in the CFL. We will also be electing new executives and would love your vote! Questions? J.D. Stier will present the SAC Leadership lecture at 7:30 pm Thursday, March 7 in Room 206 of the Valders Hall of Science. Stier's lecture, titled "How Youth Affect Social Change," will focus on the impact the youth of today can have on the world. The lecture is co-sponsored by the political science department, Paigaam and i-Impact Now.

The Department of Visual and Performing Arts would like to invite all to celebrate Theater Director Bob Larson's career at Luther by attending his production On the Verge. Bob began his Luther career 47 years ago and this is his last semester on campus. The show runs March 8th, 9th, 14th, and 16th at 7:30 pm, March 9th at 1:30 pm, and March 15th at 9:30 pm. Tickets are on sale at the Box Office.

Luther College's Habitat for Humanity will be having a Culver's Fundraiser on Monday, March 4th from 5-9 pm. 10% of everything sold during that time will go toward the cost of their Spring Break service trip to San Antonio, Texas. This trip is an amazing opportunity for students to serve and volunteer their time during Spring Break.
 
The Luther Center for Global Learning is seeking a highly motivated, globally minded 2013 Luther graduate to serve for one academic year as the CGL Intern. In addition to responsibilities in the CGL, the intern will also serve as the Norby Global House Manager. The position description and application information are available in the CGL or the Residence Life Office.  Materials due by April 12. 

"The Dating Game", sponsored by SAC Special Events, is rescheduled to Friday, March 1. The event will be held  from 7-9 PM at Marty's,
and is free for everyone.   
 
The Luther College Board of Regents announced at its February 23 meeting that a Center for Nordic Studies will be established at Luther and named the Richard L. and Judith A. Torgerson Center for Nordic Studies.
