Keeping Things Cool For Mestek
Sonoco recently won business for an EPP molded foam component that goes around the outside of Mestek's air handling unit. Production began last month in our Putnam, CT facility.

Two pieces of molded EPP snap together around the outside of the unit to provide protection and insulation. The design minimizes water condensation on the outside of the unit, and has a built in drain pan that collects and discharges excess condensate.

The snap/lock feature provides a strong connection without additional straps or glue, and it can still be disconnected for serviceability. The unit is mounted in a residential attic and becomes part of a larger HVAC system.

Cleaning Up the Mess with FirmaLoad Pallets
Bulk Bag Mess
Before
One of our customers needed a solution to help store their super sack bags. Their current method of stacking bags posed safety risks because the bags were disorganized and could topple over at any moment.

The solution was our line of FirmaLoad™ pallets. The pallets have a solid deck platform made of corrugated, which helped to stabilize the customer's bulk bags and eliminate any dangerous lean or tilt. This allows the customer to safely stack up to four bulk bags at one time.

Sonoco Revs Up Success with Harley
Harley-Davidson wanted a method of transporting their motorcycle brake system pre-assembled to the final assembly plant. Sonoco worked with Packaging Solutions to use their plastic corrugated inserts in conjunction with our molded EPP components. Our EPP components attach to the plastic corrugated and hold the ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) and master cylinder in place.

Our Owosso facility ran 216 sets of these parts - a rather large first article. The customer was extremely happy with the results and has submitted their first major purchase order for production this month.

Please contact Ken Smith for more details.
