New Tesla Business

Production has begun at our Hayward,CA facility for the automotive company, Tesla. This new EPP component was a cost saving opportunity for their current Model S electric vehicle.

The molded component is inserted into the steering column and provides energy management in the even of a crash. The part will be also be used on the upcoming launch of their Model X program in 2015.

Please contact Dave Nicely for more information.

Sonoco Heads to Atlanta
Sonoco Protective Solutions recently exhibited at the Modex Material Handling Show in Atlanta, GA. The show was a great place to showcase our TransGuard and Firma Brand pallet lines. We received 134 leads and continued to make our presence know within the material handling community.

Thank you to those who came out to help work the booth! We already have our booth for next year's show in Chicago, so be thinking about cool projects to display.

Please contact Lauren Myrent for more details.

 Product Protection for Packaging Solutions
A new project was done with Packaging Solutions for Mercury Marine. The exterior portion of their outboard engine has a Class A surface, and needs to be shipped to their final assembly in Fond du Lac, WI.

A unit was designed that includes a sheet of plastic corrugate as the base of the pallet, along with molded EPP to help support and protect the product.

The geometry of the port and starboard sides are different, so the EPP was speckled to help the customer differentiate between their two parts.

Please contact Ken Smith for more information.

 Quality Performance in Mt. Pleasant
Toyota held an award ceremony to recognize its top North American Suppliers for 2013. Carl Kraus and Victor Rioux attended the presentation last month in Kentucky.

Mt. Pleasant was 1 of only 21 plants to receive Toyota's Quality Performance Award. This award is only given to suppliers who demonstrate quality in production, performance, delivery, warranty and service. Congratulations to the entire Mt. Pleasant team!

Please contact Masao Oka or Victor Rioux   for more information.
