by Sonoco Protective Solutions

July 24, 2013
Just four months after groundbreaking, the new EPP plant in Celaya, Mexico produces the first batch of EPP parts!
After a steady period of work and lots of team effort across most areas of the Sonoco Protective Solutions division; the New EPP Plant in Celaya, Mexico ran the first set of parts at that facility on July 22, 2013.

After achieving this goal, there are still a number of additional hurdles to jump in order to make the operation profitable and meet our commitments, but this is still a great step in the right direction.

As Jose Villafana, Director of Operations in Mexico said, "I wanted to stop and congratulate each and every contributor from the commercial, manufacturing and staff teams that made this exciting achievement possible."

Additionally, the goal was reached on time, under budget, and while maintaining an injury free work environment.

Ken Sears, Manager of Manufacturing Excellence added, "I want to CONGRATULATE all of you on your accomplishments in Celaya. I have firsthand knowledge on want you have accomplished and I was very impressed by the facility, planning, infrastructure, and mostly by the Celaya team. You have a tremendous amount of pride and it comes across in your work. You all deserve to be extremely proud on your accomplishments, the plant looks beautiful. Muy bien, Gracias!"
