Sonoco Makes a Move for Respiratory Motion

Respiratory Motion, a startup medical device company in the Boston area, recently awarded Sonoco with the business for the fabricated packaging on one of their units.  They also rewarded us for our ISTA testing services, as opposed to us performing the testing for no charge.

This project is in line with our desire to continue growth in the medical market.  This also gives us an inroad with this company to further educate them about the benefits of using molded EPP foam components inside their medical devices.

Please contact Dave Stanfield for more details.
Sonoco Pumps it Up for Grundfos

Sonoco Protective Solutions was recently awarded new business for several pumps for the Grundfos pump company.

We've had success with them in the past making EPP pump covers that act as protective packaging during shipment as well as insulation at the pump installation site.  The original design won first place in Protexic's Innovative Design Competition last year.  Click HERE to see the original write up in the December 12th, 2011 edition of Swing the Bat!

The new EPP components for the next series of pumps are produced at the Hayward, CA plant location.

Please contact Matthew Vassar for more details.
Check Out the NEW INEPSA Website!

As you may or may not know, Sonoco Protective Solutions is a founding member of the  Alliance of Foam Packaging Recyclers (AFPR), which recently merged with the EPS Manufacturers Association (EPSMA) to create a stronger industry group called the EPS Industry Alliance (EPSIA).

The EPSIA is dedicated to the EPS industry by providing members and non-members with information on EPS Recycling/Sustainability, fighting mis-information that is out there about EPS, promoting the use of EPS in packaging and building construction, and generally supporting the EPS industry in any way they can.

The next step forward in promoting EPS Sustainability was for the EPSIA to join together with other EPS groups around the world to create the International EPS Alliance (INEPSA).  INEPSA recently created a brand new website to share EPS sustainability and recycling information with members and the rest of the world.

Please contact Jessica Irons for more details.
