April 23, 2013 Council Meeting Update

High Demand Youth Internship Program (HD-YIP) offered to Private Sector Employers in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Territories and Yukon.
Internships are full-time practical, broadly based assignments that help post secondary graduates develop transferable skills needed to be successful. Internships are expected to run either 26 or 40 weeks.
Employers are reimbursed $8.00/hr from the Federal Government; for instance, the minimum an Intern can make is $16.00/hr, which means that 50% of the Interns wages are subsidized.
There is 35 Internship/Employer spots available for the 40 week Internship starting May 27th, 2013 and 94 spots available for the 26 week Internship starting Sept. 3, 2013.

EnCana Announces Sale to Endurance Energy
The Northern Rockies Regional Council and Fort Nelson & District Chamber of Commerce met with Mike Forgo, of EnCana and Dennis Lawrence of Endurance Energy today.
EnCana announced the sale of their Sierra (Jean Marie) assets to Endurance Energy. The sale includes the all Sierra assets, the EnCana offices in Fort Nelson and the natural gas filling station.
Representatives have advised there will be no job losses. All affected employees will be offered positions with Endurance Energy. EnCana is maintaining their Horn River Basin assets and will continue to have a presence in Fort Nelson.
The sale will be effective June 27th, 2013 and Endurance Energy expects to have an active development plan in place in late 2013.
The Chamber will provide more information as details become available and Endurance Energy has been invited to speak with Chamber members at a later date.
