BCUC Decision on FortisBC Application

As most of you are aware the BCUC denied FortisBC's application to amalgamate and implement postage stamp rates.  In their decision the BCUC said that "the Panel therefore concluded that the postage stamp rate proposal would result in rates which would be "unjust, unreasonable, unduly discriminatory or unduly preferential", contrary to section 59 of the Utilities Commission Act and should therefor be denied."

To read the full decision click here - FNDCC refers to the Chamber of Commerce.

If approved this would have meant increases in natural gas rates of 57% for Fort Nelson residents.  We applaud the BCUC's decision to deny the application.

Thank you to everyone who signed the petition and provided the Chamber with letters of support in our efforts to have this denied.
