This volume is all back-work. Yes, I know as wrestlers and/or street practitioners we do not want to be on our backs. What we do here is continue or short series of volumes that is designed to make you as aggressive as a rabid wolverine off of your back on the premise that this will allow you to hook a sub, or open get-up opportunities rather than play a passive lay and pray game.
[This volume is meant to be drilled alongside RAW 146 & 147 and picks up where those left off.]

- 5 Submission/Sweep Responses to the Head-Grip Stack.
- We'll hit Near-Side Cutters, Coil Locks, Coil Sweeps, Knee Bars, & Knee Bar Sweeps.
- Next we'll run a long-series versus the standing stack-we'll open it with Far Under-hooking as a last resort to your arm bar.
- Then we'll fight that standing stack even if we've lost the arm bar with a long chain of leg lock threats.
- We'll open these leg lock threats with 3-Drills to Develop the Toe-Hold.
- We'll then drill the Leg Weave to make this awkward dog an easy go-to.
- We'll then begin using the Leg weave as a Bail-Out, but...
- We can also bail directly into a Dog Leash Toe-Hold, or a Heel Hook, or a Knee Bar, or a Knee Bar Bail-Out, or a Step-Over Knee Scissors.--Trust me this is one fun chain to have down cold!
- And last but not least we'll close out this volume with a sneaky trick versus the opponent who blocks your arm bar with a closed-catch-grip. They'll wish they hadn't.

30-Day Conditioning/Combat Challenge

Greetings Crew,
Below is an invite to join me on a series of 30-Day Conditioning/Combat Training Challenges. Each 30-Day Cycle will feature a day of Conditioning Work followed by a day of Combat Drills. Each 30-Day Challenge will end with a Conditioning Test so you can chart your progress.
Each day I will post that day's task on the RAW crew Member's Page, and I will post every other day on the General Page (yeah, it's only half the fun, but the RAW crew, they're family).
If you decide to join us on this journey, whether it's all 30-days or only a few here and there, each day you complete the challenge post a hale and hearty "Done!" If you have a photo or short video clip of you performing a portion of that day's challenge even better.
At the end of the 30-days, we will choose randomly among the folks who have completed the most challenges, and those who showed the most improvement in test scores, and send some free swag their way.
To get us going let's test where we are right now (tomorrow will be a rest day to recover from today's test). To test we will use the original "300" Spartan Challenge.
- Pull-Ups-25 (Strict, dead-hang, no-momentum/Ladies and beginners can move to inverted ring rows if/when strict form dies-just note where your last true rep was for re-test comparison).
- Barbell Deadlift (135#/95#for ladies or beginners) 50
- Push-Ups-50 (Chest and thighs must touch, full-extension at the top-Ladies or beginners push-ups from the knees is acceptable once true form dies-just mark where your last true rep was for comparison in the re-test.)
- 24" Box Jumps-50 (Full stand at top and step-down, no re-bounding)
- Floor Wipers (135#/95# for the ladies or beginners)-50 (Remember, the heels don't touch the mat, it's one leg lift to the right, back towards the floor, then one leg lift to the left back to the floor-that's a single rep)
- Single-Arm KB or DB Clean & Press (36#/20# for ladies) 25 per side (Do not switch sides until one side is done. This is a burst from the floor, stopping at clean position and then a strict press overhead-no push or jerk press action).
- Pull-Ups-25 (Same protocol as the opening set.)
It's gonna be a blast-if in, hit the "300" test and respond with your hale and hearty "Done!"

Hey Crew, This week's video clip is so non-combat. We got sick of shoveling 200 yards of driveway everyday so today we started rolling it. By a 3rd of the way down, it's some heavy clean, push, shove work--while trying to keep control of it--almost lost a fence due to a "runaway." Take your fun and your workout where you can get it . The icing on top, so to speak--iceberging them into the creek without dunking yourself. Stay warm and have fun! |

Pick An Adventure

Some of us are old-enough to remember a series of interactive books where readers were asked to make a decision and then go to a corresponding page to see what sort of mess you got yourself into. You never quite knew where you were going to wind up with these books--pre-video game era, these were a novel idea.
Here's where you come in, if you'd like to host a seminar and save yourself some bucks off of the standard fees in the process--if you've got an Adventure Race in your area, a rock you think I'd like to climb, a river you think I want to raft, a hike you think I just need to take, a desert I've not run on, you get the idea--pitch your adventure and school location. If the adventure appeals and the logistics are right we offer greatly reduced fees to come to your school and play with your crew before we go play at your Adventure Pitch.
