inTENS Revision
Mark Hatmaker
inTENS is our stream-lined old school conditioning service that provides Endurance, Metabolic, and Strength workouts designed to up our Western Combat Arts game in minimum time so that we can spend more time drilling and less time preparing to drill.
Don't get me wrong, we've got to put the conditioning time in for as so many wise ones before us have said (Mr. LeBell comes to mind immediately) "Conditioning is the best finishing hold." Or, this boxing gym stand-by "Fights are won in the gym, not in the ring."
inTENS asks you to put your time in we simply reduce that time by using the best current science and keep the intensity at a white-hot boil.
inTENS WODs follow a rise and fall pattern of short duration sprint intensity workouts through a gradual rise to extended effort over double or triple the time preceding them. These allows us to gear our system to various metabolic challenges.
inTENS provides 6 completely different days of conditioning programing per week + 1 Combat Drill of the Day.
Why only one drill? It's not because I don't want you to do more, it's because when you feel like doing none at least do the prescribed one.
The Combat Drills of the Day (CDD) cover all 6 of what I consider the main aspects of our Western game:
- Boxing--Offensive and defensive.
- Pugilism--AKA Boxing + where we drill boxing with elbows, knees, hacksaws, chops, butts, and all of the other "dirty" tools of the trade.
- Shooting--Offensive and defensive.
- Clinch-Work--With a heavy emphasis on clinch control drills and hard drops.
- Par Terre--Drills where the mat-work is wrestling focused with subs as the cherry on top.
- Hooking--Drills where the subs are the focus and we allow the wrestling to fade into the background.
The Combat Drills of the Day follow chain sequences so that as the end of each month approaches you will have cycled though a logical construction in each of the vital 6 areas.
For 2 years we have offered 2 versions of inTENS--a Standard version was posted for free minus the strength work and Combat Drills of the Day and the Premium version which contained the whole-shebang and was available only for our RAW Crew.
As of today, no more Standard. Only the complete version with all components and this will go only to the RAW Crew. In other words, no more freebies just more content for you RAW Warriors out there.
If becoming a member of the RAW Crew sounds like it might be up your alley check out the ESP RAW Subscriptions in the side-bar.
All you RAW Warriors out there, I've been tweaking the inTENS material even more, you'll see these changes rearing their nasty heads beginning with the April run of inTENS Challenges.
