EducationFoundationEducation Foundation Memorial Program

A gift to NACO's Education Foundation ensures that the children of county officials and county employees are eligible to apply for scholarships to continue their education at Nebraska's higher learning institutions. Whatever their passion - history, art, music, science, education, sports - the NACO Education Foundation will provide them an opportunity to fund their education beyond the K-12 level. Memorial gifts to NACO's Education Foundation are tax deductible and will be a lasting legacy in honor of your loved one's commitment to educating the children of Nebraska's county officials and employees. For more information about how to make a memorial gift, please contact Larry Dix  / 402-434-5660 ext. 226.

Browser Cache and Refreshing Webpages

Have you ever tried to refresh a webpage and nothing changes? This should resolve the issues of websites not showing the latest webpages.

Every web browser has a folder in which certain items that have been downloaded are stored for future use. Graphic images such as buttons and icons, photo's, and even entire web pages are examples of items which are saved or cached. When visiting a webpage your browser checks if a copy of the files on the page is in its cache already. If so, it will save the visitor some downloading and make webpages load faster. Some browsers refer to its cache as Temporary Internet Files.

There are some situations when bypassing your browser's cache is preferred. Just clicking the refresh button (or hitting F5) won't be sufficient in this case, because this reloads the webpage while still using the old files from the cache. You need to refresh your cache first.

To ensure you see the latest version of a site you need to clear the cache memory. This is done by doing a force refresh by pressing both control and F5 (Ctrl+F5) buttons simultaneously on your keyboard (depending on the browser you are using). Most times a simple force cache refresh won't work and you need to clear the cache manually. Let's look at the steps used for the latest version of the top 3 browsers: Internet Explorer 10, Firefox 20+ and Google Chrome.

Internet Explorer 10 is the first browser we will look at. First click on the gear wheel in the top right corner. Next Click on the "Safety" menu and select "Delete browsing history..." from the submenu. Select "Temporary Internet files and website files" from the list. Finish the process by clicking the "Delete" button. On the bottom of the page the browser notifies you when the browser cache is cleared.

Firefox version 20 or above the process is the same in each version. Start by clicking on the orange Firefox button in the top left corner or tools on the menu and select options, then click on options in the submenu. Click on the "Advanced" button followed by the "Network" tab. Finally, click "Clear Now" in the Cached Web Content section.

Google Chrome is the last of the main browsers. First click on the three dashes in the top right corner. Next click on "Settings" in the menu. Then click "History" on the left. A button that says "Clear browsing data..." is available, click this button. Select "Empty the cache" from the list and click "Clear browsing data" on the bottom to finish the process.

If you were successful in deleting your browser cache you can click refresh on your webpage and the latest data will be downloaded to your cache. This should resolve the issues of websites not showing the latest webpages.

Improving Juvenile Justice Systems by Engaging Families
Thursday, June 26, 2014, 2-3:15 p.m. Eastern Time
Time Involvement in the justice system can be intimidating, overwhelming and present real barriers to families staying connected, but creating opportunities for families to meaningfully participate can make a significant difference in a child's outcomes. Hear from counties that have implemented successful family engagement programs for justice-involved populations, which allow families and youth to feel more comfortable and supported, have more input in treatment and other decisions, and even result in lower arrest rates.
