Sunshades Installed Directly into Curtainwall
Installing sunshades into curtainwalls can be a bit complicated and many manufacturers are hesitant to do it. Not ILI. ILI recently installed sunshades directly into the curtainwall of Hennepin County Medical Center, in Minnesota. ILI worked closely with design, and construction teams as well as other manufacturers to ensure installed products meet both design intent and performance requirements


The design included structured glazed mullions, captured mullions and vertical plated panels.  The sunshade was attached both on and off the curtainwall in multiple locations and involved varying projections.  It is the sort of job that most manufacturers would try to avoid.  As with other complex applications, ILI saw an opportunity.  


ILI conducts job-specific engineering and design reviews on every project. This allows ILI to be flexible with design of components like brackets and work closely with other manufacturers to ensure each project seamlessly integrates with their products while meeting the rigorous engineering standards required to maintain curtainwall warranties.
