Dear Parents,
The first half of the academic year is particularly challenging for our Year 6 children who face a barrage of testing, interviews and examinations. Although the exams continue into January, some results have already been sent out. We are therefore delighted to applaud our 5 boys who successfully applied to and were offered places at New Hall School. Mrs Jeffrey (Principal) informed me that over 300 candidates applied for just 120 places! Congratulations to: Sebi, George, Luke, Liam and Phoenix.

ISA Cross Country by Mrs Fitch |
Our hardy cross country runners travelled to Trinity School in Brentwood last Friday to take part in the annual I.S.A. Cross Country Race. They were certainly put to the test with a difficult 2km run and every one taking part deserves praise.
Emily Beale running in the Year 4 Girls' Race came in with her usual smile and I thought she tackled the race with a great attitude.
Our Year 4 Boys were, unfortunately, not directed correctly and this race will be re-run in January. It was a real pity as Jude Robertson was looking so strong in the initial stages of the race. Braden Shiposh, Sam Bunyan and Sam Kingsley will all be looking forward to a chance to prove themselves in the re-run event.
Emily Bromage and Maggie McNeilly completed the course with Emily showing real courage by running the full 2km minus one shoe!
Finally, the Year 5&6 boys' event was a super race with Luke Nash coming home 7th and securing a place in the National finals in March. Sebastian Concannon, Freddie Abbott and Oliver Skelton ran with great effort and determination too.
Well done everyone!

With only a few hours left of the Autumn Term the school is still operating at full speed. Carol Service rehearsal, pantomime, Christingle, Christmas dinner, Santa's Grotto, Christmas singing, not to mention the curriculum subjects which up until the last minutes are still being taught in class. As I write my last newsletter of 2016 I am reflecting on a comment which was made to me this morning. The parent I was talking to said that they were delighted they had been able to attend so many Friday assemblies this term as it had opened their eyes to just how many different activities our children participate in, along with the level and variety of their achievements. Your children really do enjoy a broad and inspiring educational experience which challenges whilst establishing them as confident travellers along the path that leads towards becoming a well-rounded citizen.
On behalf of myself and the lovely staff at Hutton Manor I wish you and your families a very Happy Christmas and look forward to seeing you all again in the New Year.
