M2YF Testimonials
I found Denise and Music2YourFeet about 4 months ago. My search was an attempt to find a real "beginners class". I found that there are many classes out there that say beginners, but they are too advanced....at least for me. I felt that I needed to get the "basics" down before I tried to progress and pretend I knew what I was doing....actually dance outside of the classroom setting. This has been the greatest class ever. It is so much fun and I always leave with new dances and feeling like I had a good workout. Denise takes her time with the class. She addresses the dances from previous classes so you don't forget what you learned in the prior weeks. She breaks down every move, tells us the names of the dance steps, takes time with every single person in the class that needs a little help and leaves us all laughing and having a ball. She somehow incorporates ALL LEVELS of dancers in her class because so many veterans return to her class. She also strives to keep us up-to-date of the latest dances and aware of all of the upcoming events for us to participate in. Really couldn't ask for much more. ~ellen~

Diane is a native Washingtonian. She attended High School in PG County, MD and was pretty much shy and a "bookworm." She was featured in Who's Who Among American High School Students. She went to the University of Maryland, College Park, where she earned a BS Degree in Business Management and Statistics and began working for IBM while still in College. Diane was still shy and not a party person - with 2 left feet, but her best friend Danette Tucker was the exact opposite, and they would go out to cabarets and parties where Diane really enjoyed doing the Booty Call and other early line dances in the DC area. In 1998, her friend Jacklyn invited her to go to the American Legion Post 275 in Glenarden to "see what they were doing." It was there that her initial romance with Line Dance began. There she learned the Skate, the Ripp, Fun Fun Fun and other early line dances. In 2000, Diane suffered a near fatal stroke and through rehabilitation, learned to walk again. It was a traumatic and life changing event. After being released from Rehab Hospital, she found walking to be a great form of therapy. In 2002, while walking the track at the PG Sports & Learning Complex (PGSLC), she stumbled upon some ladies doing the Booty Call. It was Hattie Frazier and Dorothy White and the PGSLC Morning Milers! Well of course Diane had to inquire and from there started dancing with the ladies every Monday morning.
Diane found that Line dance was another great form of therapy in her recovery from stroke. In fact, it was a fun way to exercise the mind as well as the body!! Diane formed a friendship with these ladies that still exists to this day and even started teaching them some newer line dances as a volunteer. Later she started taking line dance classes under Denise Bryant and also under Bob Meadows, and quickly became addicted to line dancing. Denise became like a mentor to Diane and she learned a lot about teaching and doing demos and parties from her, going everywhere with Denise and was there when she formed her Music2YourFeet group. Turns out that friend that invited Diane to the American Legion in 1998, was Denise Bryant's cousin (small world)! Around the same time, Diane joined with Hattie and formed a group called Line Dance Party Starters. The PartyStarters have done many events, birthday parties etc, everywhere from bowling alleys to outside in the park!
Diane began teaching her own classes in 2008 at the Patuxent Community Center in Upper Marlboro, MD. She now has classes for Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced dances in the DMV Area. She has formed a line dance group called "D Smooth Crew," which was formed by her Friday Intermediate/Advanced class at South Bowie, which has several members who were at that first class at Patuxent (shout out to DSC!!). She still volunteers at the PGSLC on Monday mornings with Dorothy White and The Morning Milers Group. She also volunteers her time at the American Legion Post 275 teaching line dances there every week. Diane has choreographed 2 line dances - 'Clean Inside' and 'Like I Do.' And now, Diane has become a Line Dance DJ in the DMV area, hosting the First Sunday and Third Sunday Line Dance Socials at Glenarden Comm Ctr and also 4th Thursday Line Dance Socials with Mz. Hattie.enjoys spending time with her 2 kids as well as serving as the Family DJ for all the family cookouts and events. Diane has worked for IBM for 25 years. If she's not teaching a line dance class, she is taking a class somewhere - always eager to learn new dances! Her motto is "If I survived a stroke and I can line dance, then you can too!! We will mess up. Diane til we catch up; and if we have to, we will fake it til we make it!!
