Long Island & Toys For Tots
|
Elaina DiBiasi-Messina of the Long Island Propane Gas Association sends word of the LIPGA Annual Christmas Party held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Ronkonkoma, NY.
Every year LIPGA comes together as an organization to celebrate the holiday season and the completion of another successful year, according to DiBiasi-Messina. This year, LIPGA was proud to announce its First Annual Toy Drive benefiting the Long Island Chapter of Toys for Tots.
At the LIPGA October meeting, LIPGA had the pleasure of meeting with Staff Sgt. John Grigg, the Suffolk County Coordinator of Toys for Tots. Since 1947, The U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program has collected new, unwrapped toys annually to distribute to community centers, churches and other nonprofit organizations. Over its life span, the Marine Toys for Tots Program has distributed over 469 million toys to over 216 million less fortunate children.
LIPGA's collection effort began mid-October with donation boxes placed at individual propane companies that make up LIPGA. LIPGA reports that they were not sure of what kind of response they would get, but they report that in the end, "EVERYONE got in the spirit!" LIPGA collected hundreds of gifts for children in its communities.
NYPGA congratulates LIPGA on its very sucessful event.

HOS Changes
|
You have read and heard about it, but who must comply?
FMCSA says that most drivers must follow the HOS Regulations if they drive a commercial motor vehicle, or "CMV."
In general, a CMV is a vehicle that is used as part of a business and is involved in interstate commerce and fits any of these descriptions:
- Weighs 10,001 pounds or more
- Has a gross vehicle weight rating or gross combination weight rating of 10,001 pounds or more
- Is designed or used to transport 16 or more passengers (including the driver) not for compensation
- Is designed or used to transport 9 or more passengers (including the driver) for compensation
- Is transporting hazardous materials in a quantity requiring placards
FMCSA publications state the Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act of 2015 was enacted on December 16, 2014, and this suspended enforcement of requirements for use of the 34-hour restart.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but note that at press time FMCSA was re-arranging its web site, so the direct link we had is not working today. For information on FMCSA's Federal Register notice, follow....(we will update next week)

Newsletter List - Verification Requests Going Out
|
As published earlier this month, NYPGA has begun to send confirmation requests to everyone that is on the weekly newsletter list. The purpose will be to:
- verify that we have complete information on all NYPGA contacts
- ensure that all those on the newsletter list are aware of the new weekly publication
NYPGA sends newsletters like this to over 460 member contacts using Constant Contact. Constant Contact tells NYPGA how many recipients are opening the newsletters, how many addresses are valid, how many are not valid, and so on. The verification letters will be sent using email, fax or mail, depending on the information NYPGA has on file for the contact, and the letters will ask that any amendments to the contact's information be either emailed, faxed or mailed back to NYPGA so the association can update the contact's information.
If by some chance you are reading this because you received it from someone other than NYPGA, please send your complete contact information to NYPGA and we will make sure you are added to the list to receive future publications directly.
BOUNCED: We have a VERY short list of email addresses that are reported to us as not getting to the intended recipients. We work to cure these one at a time, and attempt to re-send them from another email address, or fax a pdf version of the newsletter when we can.
|
Add NYPGA to your Safe List
|
The new weekly update is emailed only. Make sure your the NYPGA newsletter is on your email "safe list". The settings of your email client, Microsoft Outlook, as
an example, may impact how the NYPGA
newsletter is being delivered. In some cases, your mail server may also be intercepting NYPGA newsletters. To ensure you receive the weekly updates, please check the settings on your email client (software), or check with your mail server provider about "white listing" NYPGA.
See
http://support2.constantcontact.com/articles/FAQ/2753 for instruction on how to change your settings to ensure the NYPGA weekly update is not redirected to a SPAM folder.
