Dear Presidents,

As the school year is just around the corner, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for all you have done for the students, parents, and staff in your schools. I know your efforts have benefited many in your community.  Thank you for the countless hours you gave this year!

As you make transitions between your current board and your outgoing board, please take the time to do the following:

  • Share this information with the 2013-14 PTA board.
  • Please forward all pertinent PTA information to the incoming president.
  • Please provide FCCPTA with the contact information for members of the 2013-14 board members or make sure the incoming president does so.   Please go to: www.fccpta.org/pta-officer-information-form and provide the requested information.
  • Many PTAs have yet to pay dues to FCCPTA.  Dues are $0.25 per member and are due by June 30, 2013.  Please use this webform to pay dues to FCCPTA.  www.fccpta.org/fccpta-dues-payment-form  Make sure you budget for FCCPTA dues for the coming school year.  (NOTE:  This is separate from paying dues to National PTA and Virginia PTA.)

  • Provide new board information to Virginia PTA at vapta.org.
  • Encourage members to attend the Virginia PTA Annual Conference, July 11-13 in  Richmond, VA:  www.vapta.org/events/annual-conference
  • Make sure procedure books or files are passed along to new members.
  • Don't forget to make sure an auditor or auditing committee is in place for the required annual audit.
  • Valuable PTA information can be found on the FCCPTA website www.fccpta.org, our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/FairfaxCountyCouncilPTA and when need of a personal contact, please contact me directly at president@fccpta.org.

Again, thank you for your service to PTA.  If you are serving a second term, best wishes for a successful year.

Digital Learning:  FCPS To Host Community Engagement Sessions

FCPS will soon hold a series of community engagement sessions for students, parents, staff, and community members to share their thoughts on a digital learning vision for FCPS. The goal is to contribute to the development of a strategic plan for digital learning.

The meetings will provide an overview of digital learning and then have attendees work in groups to share ideas and information. The collective input will be shared with the School Board in the fall. One meeting will be held in each cluster.
