Friends of Fairfax Community PTA encourages parental engagement in our schools and supports programs for students and teachers to help bridge the financial and academic gap for PTA schools in Fairfax County.
Membership Dues fund the development of PTA leaders, student enrichment programs, and teacher enhancements through a grant process.

FCCPTA General Membership Meeting
Our next General Membership meeting is Wednesday, April 3 starting at 7:30 PM.
Local unit PTA Presidents and/or their designated representatives are voting members of FCCPTA. As such they should plan to attend FCCPTA General Membership Meetings.

The FCCPTA Executive Board meeting will be held Thursday, March 21 at 7:30 PM in Room 3050-3051, Gatehouse Administration Center. Anyone may attend FCCPTA Executive Board Meetings.

Superintendent's Parent Advisory Council Meeting
The next meeting of the Superintendent's Parent Advisory Council (SPAC) is Wednesday, March 20 at 7 PM at the Gatehouse Center Cafe located at 8115 Gatehouse Road, Merrifield.
Local unit PTA and PTSA presidents are encouraged to attend or to send a designated representative to SPAC meetings.
The SPAC provides a direct connection between the Superintendent and parents throughout the county. The SPAC is made up of PTA presidents from each FCPS school and meets three times a year to discuss education issues important to the community, such as the budget and testing.

National Walk Bike Day, Wed., May 8
Wednesday, May 8 is National Walk Bike To School Day. Click HERE To Register your school's Walk Bike To School Day event.
All elementary and middle schools in Virginia are eligible to apply for Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Safe Routes To School (SRTS) QuickStart Mini-grants, regardless of past participation in a VDOT SRTS grant. If you're planning an event for National Walk Bike To School Day or have another great way to use these $1,000 grants, you'll want to apply for one. The on-line application is available HERE.

Safe Routes To School (SRTS) Workshop In Vienna
workshop at Flint Hill Elementary School on Thursday, March 14 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The workshop will include information on QuickStart Mini-Grants and an upcoming call for non-infrastructure grant applications. The workshops will help start new programs and all programs interested in applying for programs and activities funding in the Fall 2013. A second round of 'non-infrastructure' applications will begin in the Fall. The workshop will include two work session options: - One for those interested in applying for a QuickStart Mini-grant to help participants think through some fun and effective ways to use the $1,000 grants.
- One for those interested in applying for a non-infrastructure grant in the fall to help participants get started on completing the required SRTS Activities and Programs plan.
As a bonus, two participants at each workshop will be selected to have a walking or biking event organized by VDOT at their schools! Please Click HERE To Register For The Workshop.

In an effort to minimize the potential fire and life safety risks associated with these parties and events, while meeting the intent of the Fire Prevention Code, the Office of the Fire Marshal has established public safety planning procedures and general fire safety guidelines to assist planners and operators of all-night graduation parties and after-prom events maintain a higher level of fire and life safety, while reducing risk to the occupants. |

2013 GEICO/WRAP Student Awards Application Deadline:
The nonprofit Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) offers Greater Washington high school student groups the opportunity to participate in the 2013 GEICO Student Awards. This is our annual teen contest honoring youth-led activities for their work in promoting alcohol and drug-free lifestyles to their student peers.
The deadline for WRAP's 2013 GEICO Student Awards is Friday, March 22. All student groups are welcome to submit the activities executed during the 2012-2013 school year. Please encourage all your student groups and clubs to submit an application before Friday, March 22, 2013. Students groups can earn up to $1,000 in the first place category and are judged by their leadership, creativity as well as school and community involvement. WRAP looks forward to seeing your school at WRAP's 21st annual GEICO Student Awards ceremony scheduled for Friday, April 19, 2013 in Washington, D.C.
