Herndon High School: Sleep and Our Teens
November 13th, 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm Herndon High School Auditorium
Most of our teens have to deal with a lack of sleep during the school year. We already know it makes our kids grouchy and reduces their ability to concentrate. But did you know it also contributes to acne breakouts, exacerbates depression and contributes to stress? Bring your questions for an informative discussion and join us for a presentation by sleep expert Dr. Danny Lewin, Associate Director of Pediatric Sleep Medicine, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and Psychiatry/Children's National Medical Center and George Washington University School of Medicine.
This program will be appropriate for parents of high school, middle school and college students. Students are welcome to attend with their parents. All members of the community are welcome.
Sponsored by the HHS PTSA Admission is free Questions? Contact Jennifer Boysko (703) 736-8949, jboysko@cox.net

B-E-E a Part of the Excitement
The FCCPTA is once again sponsoring the Fairfax County Spelling Bee, along with our business partner, Fairfax Times.
We currently have over 60 public and private schools in Fairfax County registered to participate, and we want more! Come B-E-E part of the fun and help your students improve their spelling, increase their vocabularies, learn concepts, and develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives.
All students, 1st through 8th grade, are eligible to participate in their school's Bee. School Bees are held during the winter and the winner of your school Bee competes in the County Bee to be held in mid-March. The winner of the County Bee will compete in the nationally televised Spelling Bee, held at National Harbor, during the week of May 26 - June 1.
For more information about the Bee, please go to www.spellingbee.com, or contact Judy Joyce, FCCPTA Spelling Bee Coordinator, at judyjoyce@verizon.net or 703-309-3787. The deadline to register with the Scripps Company, the national sponsor of the Spelling Bee, is December 14.
