Greetings!

Carleton Brooks
I am very pleased to announce that respected hunter trainer, Carleton Brooks, will be joining us on September 1. We've never had a hunter trainer at Mill Creek before, so I am very excited to be introducing a different facet of the equestrian world to the Mill Creek family. It's a whole other world from what we've done before and I am looking forward to observing and learning his methods every step of the way.

You can read more about Carleton on his website: http://www.carletonbrooks.com

In addition, effective August 1, we will be making significant changes to our billing and payment procedures. Please read below for details.

Important Message Regarding Lesson Payment and Policies

Our Instructors will become Independent Contractors

Beginning August 1, 2013, there will be changes to our billing and payment procedures. Due to California law, it is necessary for the majority of our instructors to become independent contractors. Unfortunately, this will require that all payments be made directly to your independent contractor instructor. You may pay by cash or check directly to your instructor.

Anyone with a credit on the Mill Creek books who rides primarily with our independent contractors will receive a refund check. Please request a refund after August 1 and allow two weeks; we will work hard to send refunds out in a timely manner.

We ask that everyone with a balance due settle their account BEFORE August 1, so that all accounts are current.

August 1, 2013 the cost of private and semi-private lessons on a school horse will increase as follows:

45 minute private lesson: $90.00
30 minute private lesson: $70.00
45 minute semi-private lesson: $70.00 each rider

Boarders will continue to be billed for board, grass hay, grooming and turn-outs as before. However, farrier charges will no longer be billed. Please pay Robbie directly beginning August 1.

We apologize for any inconvenience. If you have any questions please inquire in the office.

Farewell to Sleepy

We will miss you!

On June 13, Mill Creek lost a favorite school horse, Sleepy.  She came to Mill Creek in 2008 after an injury made it unlikely for her to have a significant show career.  Sleepy was an immediate favorite of many riders and introduced many students to the show ring. Last year, Sleepy reinjured herself.  In November, Cory decided to try surgery with the hopes that Sleepy could be used for light work. Unfortunately, the surgery was unsuccessful. We had hoped that Sleepy could retire as a broodmare, but because she was older and had never been bred before, this was not an option.  The difficult decision was made to put Sleep down and relive her of her discomfort.  She will be greatly missed by everyone.
