From November 16-23, in communities across Canada, YMCAs celebrate YMCA Peace Week by offering activities for people of all ages to explore peace from a personal, local and global perspective. Mark your calendar to join us for many peace activities and events!

YMCA Community Breakfast for Peace
Thursday, November 21 
Considered to be the inspirational highlight of YMCA Peace Week, the YMCA Community Breakfast for Peace honours Oakville peacemakers who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to building and promoting peace by awarding them a YMCA Peace Medallion.

Keynote Speaker: Cheryl Perera 

We're excited to welcome Cheryl Perera, the founder and president of OneChild, as our keynote speaker for our peace breakfast! Cheryl's extraordinary contributions to protect children and her high innovation, achievement, and leadership have earned her honours such as the World of Children Founder's Award, and distinguished her as one of Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100, and Canada's Top 20 Under 20.

We have space in junior and school-age child care programs!  

We currently have space in some of our junior and school-age child care programs in Oakville.
If you're looking for toddler and preschool child care, we can provide your child with a safe and nurturing environment. Our curriculum is designed to help children learn through creative play and aligns with full day kindergarten benchmarks.

Our before and after school programs provide school-age children with a safe, supervised and active experience that fosters social skills and develops a sense of community.

Brunch with Santasanta
Jingle jingle... Santa is coming to the Y!

Sunday, December 8

Morning session: 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.  

Afternoon session: 1:00-3:00 p.m. 

   

Children 3-10 years will enjoy two hours of holiday crafts, games and activities, entertainment by Elfie (Santa's little helper) and a visit from Santa. 

This is a kids only event, so while your children enjoy the brunch, you've got two whole hours for shopping, gift wrapping or time just for you. The brunch includes fruit, juice and a yummy sweet treat.

November running clinics
Run your way into shape!

5K Running Clinic (16+ years) 
All levels are welcome whether you are new to running, returning to running or an avid runner! You will be provided with a six-week training schedule at the start of the clinic. Goal race: The Resolution Run on December 31, 2013.

Half Marathon Clinic (16+ years) 
Go the distance and succeed. You will be provided with a training program to suit training base, fitness and race goals. Access to clinic leaders via email and two group running days are all included! Goal race: The Chilly Half Marathon on March 2, 2014.

Volunteer Advisory Committee  
Join us and make a difference!

Want to make a difference and have some fun too? Join our Volunteer Advisory Committee where you can help promote the development and value of volunteerism at the YMCA of Oakville. 

Working with staff, the committee helps volunteers to feel more welcomed, safe and included as a YMCA team member. In 2012, the volunteer survey scores increased from 88% satisfaction to 99%. Almost all respondents (97%) stated that they would definitely or probably recommend the YMCA as a good place to volunteer.
