The Religious Diversity Journeys to Temple Israel, Temple Beth El, and Adat Shalom Synagogue were wonderful successes. They would not happen without the contributions of so many volunteers, or without the clergy in these congregations. Volunteer and professional, they represent their faiths to the students, parents, and teachers who have come to learn and connect, and to give them what is often a first taste of that faith tradition. This is a crucial step on the journey toward understanding and respect. And we want to thank the Jewish clergy for making it such a powerful one, for their kindness, openness, humor, good will, and welcoming spirit, and for sharing their thoughts on the journeys:

8 Mile is 6 Inches Between Our Ears
|
Prejudice, fear, hate. What we don't know can hurt us, can hurt our children, can hurt our community. Distributing information can help. Creating understanding can heal.
On December 5, our community members have a unique opportunity to participate in a program designed to get us to look inside ourselves and listen to our neighbors. The day-long program is called Challenge Day. It was initially developed to facilitate dialogue within schools. But the December 5 Challenge Day has been created to facilitate dialogue across the lines that divide our community.

Share Find Mi Care Help Community Find
Health Care Treatment
|
The Greater Detroit Area Health Council developed a website and mobile application called Find MI Care,
which was developed in response to the community need to receive better coordinated health care treatment in an appropriate setting.
This user-friendly website and mobile app can be used to search for and find clinics and doctors within a specified zip code. Hospitals, physicians, and clinic staff are able to print a list of clinics near the patient's home during the discharge process, and community groups can use this site to connect people to health care resources.
The website can be viewed at www.findmicare.org and the mobile app can be downloaded for free from either the Apple or Google Play stores.
Andrell Sturdivant, Program Coordinator for Find MI Care is available to attend staff meetings at other agencies to present Find MI Care. For more information, please contact: Andrell Sturdivant at asturdivant@gdahc.org or 313-963-4990, ext. 240.
Please share this information with anyone who may need or be able to share it.
